Rúben Amorim told exactly what he wanted to hear about “exceptional” Man Utd star this week, he can explode vs Man City

Rúben Amorim has been told exactly what he wanted to hear about one of his Manchester United stars during the international break.

Rúben Amorim’s first few weeks of the 2025/26 season have left Manchester United with little to shout about after one win, one draw, and two losses.

The season started with a 1-0 loss to Arsenal, but the performance was still encouraging. The next fixture, against Fulham away from home in the Premier League, was a 1-1 draw that left little to be desired.

Then, in the second round of the Carabao Cup, United fell to League Two side Grimsby Town, losing on penalties after a 2-2 draw. However, they finally grabbed their first win of the season a few days later, defeating Burnley 3-2 with a last-minute winning penalty from Bruno Fernandes.

Next up, following the international break, they will travel across town to face Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium, with Amorim no doubt hoping for an improved display.

Šeško praised for involvement in Slovenia comeback

The international break will see many of United’s star men competing for their countries, with one being Benjamin Šeško’s maiden return to the Slovenia set-up since joining the Old Trafford ranks.

Slovenia faced Sweden in a World Cup qualifier on Saturday, and despite going down a goal in both the first and second half, Swansea’s Žan Vipotnik netted a last-minute equalising effort, assisted by Šeško.

Šeško has recently acknowledged the need to increase his physical presence, now that he’s playing in the Premier League, and Amorim will be pleased to hear Vipotnik’s report that the 22-year-old performed well physically in the former’s goal against the Swedish back line.

“[Sesko] did a great job; it was not easy with the tall and strong Swedish defenders. I followed his action, and when I got into a shooting position, I did not hesitate. Luckily, I scored,” Vipotnik said, as reported by Ekipa.

Vecer also commented on Šeško’s physicality during the tie, stating: “Slovenia managed another comeback. And what a comeback! After a long pass from Vanja Drkusic, Benjamin Sesko was not afraid of the defenders’ grip, tamed the ball, first with his knee, then with his head, to Zan Vipotnik.”

Šeško buzzing for City clash

Šeško is yet to start a Premier League game for United. Still, it feels as if he will finally be granted his first 90 minutes in the domestic top flight when the club travel to face Pep Guardiola’s City on Sunday afternoon.

Šeško, who Burnley boss Scott Parker highlighted as one of United’s three “exceptional” new players, explained while with Slovenia on international duty that he is very excited to play in such a high-stakes and important encounter.

“It’s true, it’s an incredibly big match coming up. There will simply be some pressure on both sides to just win this match,” Šeško told Slovenian outlet Ekipa.

“There’s still quite a bit to go until this match, but we’re definitely looking forward to a top-notch match.”

With the tie against City often one that produces spectacular moments, especially at the Etihad, it could present itself as the perfect time for Šeško to finally introduce himself to the Premier League and explode onto the scene as Amorim looks for consistency in front of goal.
