Ruben Amorim sends clear message to Kobbie Mainoo and Manuel Ugarte after Man Utd 4-2 Brighton

Amorim makes a firm statement in the direction of Kobbie Mainoo and Manuel Ugarte regarding their minutes this season following an impressive 4-2 win against Brighton.

Manchester United made it three wins from three following a strong display against tough side, Brighton.

Ruben Amorim kept Kobbie Mainoo and Manuel Ugarte on the bench once again as United began to find form in another good performance, boosting them up to fourth place in the Premier League.

The Portuguese manager decided to stick with his usual midfield pairing of Casemiro and Bruno Fernandes despite fans wishing for more playing-time for United’s most promising youngster, Mainoo.

Both Mainoo and Ugarte made their way onto the field during the second half at Old Trafford to see out the win despite two surprise Brighton goals which both occurred after Casemiro came off.

Amorim makes it clear that Mainoo and Ugarte can get back into the starting eleven

After United’s victory, Amorim spoke about Casemiro’s revival under his management, stating, “I think he gives a lot of experience, he is an example for everyone.”

Amorim continued to say, “he was behind every midfielder, even Toby [Collyer].”

Casemiro has set a solid statement proving that players can fight to earn their way back into the starting lineups.

The Brazilian found himself directly involved in two of United’s goals against Brighton, assisting Matheus Cunha to open the scoring. Then doubling United’s lead through a strike of his own, which took a wicked deflection, wrong-footing Verbruggen and sliding into the back of the net.

Amorim also said, “he fought hard and worked and now he is back in the national team. He is so important to us. He ran a lot, today he had to fight and press, and then return. I’m really pleased with him.”

Amorim wants his players to earn their place and impress him

Fans have seriously began to worry for the future of Mainoo with him reportedly looking to leave in the summer to get more game-time. But Amorim remains on his stance that players can get themselves back into his starting eleven.

“And the other guys need to look at Casemiro,” he continued. “To understand that football can change really fast. You just need to work for me. If I think you are the best one to play a game, then you will.”

With Casemiro getting older, fans question who will replace him out of United’s current squad or potential new signings as the veteran is yet to play a full 90 minutes in the Premier League this season.

Nonetheless, Amorim continues to trust in Casemiro as he puts on firm performances for United, particularly this performance against Brighton.
