Rúben Amorim to grant Roy Keane key transfer wish after ex-Manchester United star’s “good idea”

Rúben Amorim is set to grant Roy Keane a wish for all future transfers as he installs a demand the ex-Manchester United midfielder feels is a “good idea.”
Rúben Amorim has officially taken over as Manchester United’s head coach after Erik ten Hag‘s sacking last month.
Though the club announced his arrival two weeks ago, Amorim was delayed in joining due to complications with his release clause from Sporting CP. Those contractual hurdles have now been cleared, and he finally starts work this week.
In the interim, Ruud van Nistelrooy took the reins, managing three wins and a draw, which provided a slight boost in both the Premier League and Europa League standings. However, United still find themselves languishing in 13th and 15th places, respectively.
Now, the 39-year-old Amorim faces a challenging task ahead. He is set to lead his first training session next week as he begins the work of revitalizing the squad.
Amorim’s new idea
Speaking during his first official club interview, Amorim was asked how he felt having had a tour of Old Trafford for the first time, and how it felt. The new head coach replied that, although he already had a good feeling after seeing Carrington, the stadium felt different.
“It’s different. Like you said, you go inside Carrington, you feel it,” he said. “But when you come here, it’s so different. You see the trophies, you see the tragedy that we have as a club. The history.
“So you can understand the history, after the crash, then we were European champions. This kind of strength, I think it is important to put in our team.
Further, he stated that every single new Manchester United signing should be given a tour of the stadium to understand the history of the club, which will help unify the side.
“When the players come here, they should make the same tour with the same guy all the time. I think this is very important to do. It is one thing that you have to feel that this is Manchester United and it’s normal if you are a lot of years without winning, you start losing that.
“So you have to be very clear on the message that you want to put on the players. So I think we need to put all the players doing the same thing, to regain that feeling.”
Keane’s “good idea”
This will be music to Roy Keane’s ears. Speaking on The Overlap in October, former United goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel explained that one of the first things he did when he arrived in 1991 was a two-hour tour of the club’s museum guided by former chairman Martin Edwards.
The ex-United midfielder replied by explaining that he felt this was a great idea and that all players who signed up for United should undergo the same process as soon as they sign for the club.
“That’s good. Learn the history of the club, they should do that with every player. Dead right. A lot of players don’t know the history of the club, even know.
“I think it’s a really good idea. I was aware of it growing up in Ireland but I think a lot of players don’t know the history of the football club. I think it’s important.”
