Rúben Amorim has provided the latest injury news as Manchester United prepare to face Wolverhampton Wanderers at Old Trafford on Tuesday evening.
Manchester United host Wolverhampton Wanderers at Old Trafford as they play their final fixture of 2025.
It has been a testing year for Rúben Amorim, though a recent 1-0 Premier League win over Newcastle, paired with a clean sheet, has injected a sense of optimism that the team are heading in the right direction.
United have already come up against Wolves this season and ran out convincing 4-1 winners at Molineux earlier this month. This time, however, the hosts will be short of several players because of injuries and Africa Cup of Nations call-ups.
With the New Year just around the corner, Amorim will be hoping his side can deliver a solid display and collect all three points to boost their push for a Champions League finish.
Amorim provides latest injury update
United have had a tough time of late, with injuries and absence due to the Africa Cup of Nations hindering the squad’s full capacity.
Amad and Bryan Mbeumo have both registered goal involvements already at the competition, while Noussair Mazraoui is unbeaten with Morocco.
United were also without Bruno Fernandes, Matthijs de Ligt, and Harry Maguire for the win over Newcastle, although the latter was spotted training with the first-team group in the gym on Sunday.
Mason Mount also exited the field at half-time, and speaking after the Newcastle game, Amorim said: “I don’t know how Mase is going to be for that game. I think Kobbie Mainoo, Bruno, De Ligt, and Harry Maguire will not be ready either. So, I think we are not going to have more players.”
Speaking further, he said: “Bruno was already saying that he needs to train, but we don’t know. Kobbie Mainoo is going to start on the pitch, so we will see. Matthijs is struggling a little bit. Harry is the same. So I don’t expect to have the players for this game, for the other game, I don’t know.”
Heaven deserves to stay in the team
Even if Maguire were to be ready to play against Wolves on Tuesday evening, there is no reason for him to be selected ahead of Ayden Heaven.

The 19-year-old had started the last five of United’s Premier League fixtures, and after a shaky 45 minutes against West Ham at the beginning of the month, the teenage centre-back has gone from strength to strength.
Against Newcastle, he was brilliant. Battling with Nick Woltemade, who is one of the peak physical tests in the Premier League, HEvaen was almost flawless, and his partnership with Lisandro Martínez was fantastic.
While he was initially thrown into the side due to a lack of other options, Heaven has proven himself to be a formidable option for Amorim. Against Wolves, he deserves the chance to continue his excellent form.
