Ruben Amorim has helped revitalise several Manchester United players at Old Trafford during his tenure so far.

Manchester United have had mixed form under the Portuguese boss so far, winning five of his first 13 games in charge.

However, small steps are being taken in the right direction and it seems like the majority of the squad are beginning to get used to the new system and rules under Ruben Amorim.

Several players have been thriving in the setup, including 31-year-old centre-back Harry Maguire, who once again produce an excellent display against Arsenal.

Maguire in solid form for United

Maguire has come back from huge setbacks in his career but he only looked to be a squad player while Erik ten Hag was in charge.

However, the change in shape under Amorim has been the best possible adjustment for Maguire, who has been playing as the central centre-back in the back three.

The role gives the defender better protection in wide areas and allows him to focus on what he is good at. His passing range makes him the best option in that position.

We have seen the Englishman produce stellar performances against Manchester City, Liverpool and Arsenal in quick succession and it appears that he is now a starting player in Amorim’s best team.

Matthijs de Ligt is another option for the role but Maguire’s passing is superior. Both players have started in the defence together, with the Dutchman moving to the right side.

Amorim said Maguire is perfect defender in back three formation

Maguire’s solid form comes not long after Amorim made a bold comment about the Englishman, claiming that he is ‘perfect’ in the middle of the back three.

“Maguire is perfect when you play with three defenders,” the United boss told reporters last month.

“He is perfect in the middle. All the guys defended very well [vs Man City], not just Harry. They were very focused.”

Some fans questioned Amorim’s praise after a short amount of time but it seems like most supporters are beginning to agree with the United boss’ opinion.

It is no surprise that United decided to trigger the one-year extension in Maguire’s contract, and while he is unlikely to be a key player for the team in the longer-term, he is extremely useful to Amorim and the team right now.
