Ruben Amorim slammed for nine-game Man United trend, he has already responded
Ruben Amorim has been slammed for a nine-game trend at Manchester United, but already has issued his clear response to the criticism.
Manchester United have shown mixed form under Ruben Amorim’s leadership so far, winning five of his first nine games.
They claimed a notable 2-1 victory against Manchester City last weekend but followed it up with a disappointing 3-0 loss to Bournemouth at Old Trafford on Sunday.
Despite these results, Amorim is clearly prioritising the team’s adaptation to his new tactical approach.
While certain players have embraced and excelled in his system, others have struggled to keep up. It’s clear that the 39-year-old will need new signings to fully implement his vision.
Amorim slammed for rotation at United
Amorim has been widely praised for his actions at Old Trafford so far but former Premier League midfielder Michael Brown has criticised him after the latest defeat to Bournemouth.
Brown believes that Amorim ‘has to stop’ rotating his team so much, with the Portuguese head coach making more changes than any other Premier League manager in the nine games since his arrival.
“What an afternoon of football at Old Trafford. We knew Man Utd would be up against this Bournemouth side who are full of confidence,” Brown said on BBC Radio 5 Live.
“Man Utd contributed with chances, but didn’t have the quality. It could have been more and what a performance from Bournemouth overall.

“Ruben Amorim has to stop making so many changes, he needs to find a system in a settled way.
“This is a big blow, this performance at this stage of the season has put a major negative effect back on something that was starting to look good under the new manager.”
Amorim has already responded to United rotation criticism
Amorim has already responded to such criticism and explains that it is not his preference to rotate to regularly.
However, he has come into a United squad where the majority of players have had recent injury troubles or cannot deal with the intensity he wants them to play at.
Several players have been on ‘time limits’ so that the chances of reoccuring injuries are minimised. Even then, players like Mason Mount, Luke Shaw and Victor Lindelöf have suffered setbacks.
It’s not because I like to change all the time but we have to have all the squad fit,” Amorim explained in a recent press conference.
“So, for example, Harry Maguire has a time limit, Tyrell Malacia has a time limit, Mason Mount has a time limit, Leny Yoro has a really time limit.
“So we have to manage winning games, different methodology, different way of playing, more meters to press and tomorrow we have to assess and the guys that are a little bit at risk to some injury will not play.
“So we have to have everybody to work, to play and to improve the squad.”
