Ruben Amorim must start “incredible” Man Utd star vs Brighton, an important partnership is building

Manchester United return to Old Trafford next weekend to face Brighton following on from their incredible win at Anfield against Liverpool.

Manchester United have finally won back-to-back Premier League games under Ruben Amorim after their 2-1 win over Liverpool at Anfield.

The Reds have had a mixed start to the campaign in terms of both performances and results but their latest three points sees them move into ninth and just three points away from Manchester City in second.

But the problem United have faced so much over the last 12 months is consistency and the win over Liverpool will only be significant if Amorim’s side can follow it up with another victory.

Their next game comes against Brighton, who they have not got the best record against in recent years, at Old Trafford.

Amorim must start “incredible” Amad vs Brighton

With a full week of rest and preparation ahead of the next clash, Amorim is unlikely to make many changes to his team, with Benjamin Šeško and Leny Yoro being the only two players who may potentially come into the side.

Importantly, the United boss needs to keep the right-hand side the same, with Amad and Bryan Mbeumo building a connection together in attack.

Amad’s performance against Liverpool was described as ‘incredible’ and the Ivorian managed to set up Mbeumo for the opening goal of the game after just one minute.

Earlier in the season, those two players seemed to be struggling to link up effectively. They are both used to being the right-sided attacker in a team and have had to learn to play alongside each other.

But that connection is now developing and Amorim should be looking to keep them playing together so even more progress can be made.

United must build momentum now

As mentioned previously, United’s impressive win against Liverpool does not mean as much if they slip up against Brighton. The same level of quality and intensity must be on display.

It was starting to feel like the fact that United had not won two league fixtures in a row for a long time was beginning to have a mental impact on the squad, who all knew about the record.

But now that it has been ended, United will hopefully be able to finally put a run of form together under Amorim which can lead to genuine progress. If it doesn’t happen now, it’s hard to say when it will.
