Rúben Amorim most impressed by four Manchester United stars in training, three start in his best XI
New reports have suggested that four players have impressed Rúben Amorim the most during his opening month as Manchester United’s head coach.
Rúben Amorim has spent the past five weeks acclimating to his new role as Manchester United’s head coach, having succeeded Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford.
In his first eight matches, Amorim has delivered four wins, one draw, and three losses across all competitions. While consistency remains a work in progress, his vision and style of football are already becoming apparent.
Players like Amad Diallo, Bruno Fernandes, and Noussair Mazraoui have excelled under Amorim’s leadership, emerging as indispensable members of his starting lineup and thriving in their new responsibilities.
Despite encountering a number of early challenges, Amorim has approached his task with calm and professionalism, steadily steering United toward a clear identity and direction.
Amorim impressed by four starts in United training
Training is something that Amorim wishes he had more of at United. When asked what he would like to do if he had more time, the 39-year-old said: “Training. That’s simple. Because we are rotating players. When you rotate players, it’s really hard to work in every connection.
“So, if you are always working with a different guy next to you, in the more or less in the same position, it’s really hard to work on that connection, and we start in the middle of the season, and we already know. So, if I have more time, we will use it to train the team, that’s all.”
However, from the limited amount of time he has had so far with his squad at Carrington, a new report from GiveMeSport has detailed that Amorim has been most impressed with four players so far.
According to the information, Amad, Kobbie Mainoo, Manuel Ugarte, and Mason Mount are the quartet who have piqued Amorim’s attention the most during the opening weeks of his reign.
Further, it’s been described that Amad has been the “most adaptable” to Amorim’s new methods, and with the winger having been involved in 11 goals in his last ten appearances, his hard work is clearly paying off.
Amorim already has seven nailed on best XI players
Although the new head coach has issued a policy of heavy rotation during his opening weeks as United boss, it is clear to see that seven of his best starting XI players have already appeared.
From the above list, Amad, Mainoo, and Ugarte have been standout players, and while Mount is impressing Amorim, his consistent injury record means he cannot be relied on yet.
In defence, Matthijs de Ligt and Mazraoui have been nothing short of fantastic, with the two 2024 signings quickly settling into life in the 3-4-3 system.
Beyond this, goalkeeper André Onana and club captain Fernandes have proved themselves vital to Amorim. Onana is essential to the side’s early build-up play, while Fernandes has shown leadership on the pitch and utility across multiple positions.
