Rúben Amorim admits he has a “problem” with Mason Mount after he was substituted due to injury 13 minutes into the Premier League win over Manchester City.

Manchester United earned a thrilling 2-1 victory over Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium, with Amad Diallo’s late brilliance sealing all three points for Rúben Amorim’s men in an unforgettable Premier League clash.

The game opened with both teams battling for dominance, but United were dealt an early blow when Mason Mount was forced to leave the field with an injury inside the first 15 minutes.

City capitalized on the disruption, with Joško Gvardiol rising highest to head in Kevin de Bruyne’s deflected cross after a cleverly executed short corner.

United came out in the second half with renewed purpose, controlling possession but struggling to turn it into meaningful chances against City’s resolute defence. Bruno Fernandes had a golden opportunity to equalize in the final 10 minutes but failed to find the target.

The decisive moment came courtesy of Amad Diallo, who dazzled the City defence to win a late penalty. Fernandes stepped up and calmly converted, leveling the match with just minutes left.

Not content with a draw, United pushed forward again. Lisandro Martínez delivered a sublime pass from deep, picking out Amad, who showed incredible composure to round Ederson and slot home a brilliant winner. The late drama ensured a memorable comeback and a vital three points for United.

Amorim’s problem with Mount

Speaking after the game, Amorim was asked by Sky Sports if he is already focusing on United’s next game, which comes in the form of a Carabao Cup away game against Tottenham Hotspur.

However, Amorim responded by explaining that he feels he has an issue with Mount as the player may be unavailable for the upcoming fixtures.

“It’s more the problem with Mason Mount, you think right away,” Amorim told Sky after the full-time whistle.

“We have a lot of games. We have to continue to win. This will change if we don’t continue to win.

“He [Mount] fits our style. He’s a very good player inside and also outside the pitch. The type of character we want in this team and the club want. He made the movement and stretched his leg, he felt something. But we need him.”
