Manchester United star now “living a nightmare”, Rúben Amorim is “at a loss” on how to solve the issues
Rúben Amorim is reportedly now at a loss as to how to fix the “nightmare” Mason Mount is suffering at Manchester United, 18 months after his transfer for Chelsea.
In July 2023, Manchester United announced that they had reached an agreement with Premier League rivals Chelsea to sign English midfielder Mason Mount.
Sanctioned by then-manager Erik ten Hag, Mount joined the Old Trafford club for a fee of around a £55 million initial fee, with further add-ons taking the total to £60 million should they be achieved.
However, fast forward 18 months, and Mount has played just 32 games for the club, scoring once and providing one assist in that time.
He has missed 30 games since his arrival due to injury and despite Amorim’s positive comments surrounding the 25-year-old, he has suffered yet another set-back.
Mason Mount is living a nightmare at Man Utd
Mount started the tie against Manchester City on the weekend but only lasted 13 minutes after he had to be taken off with yet another injury, although the exact nature of the injury is unknown.
A report from Fichajes has now commented that Mount is “living a nightmare” at Old Trafford, having failed to find a run of games free from injury during his period so far at the club.
Mount’s main struggles have come mostly down to injuries in his legs, having suffered from calf and hamstring injuries in the last 12 months.
StrettyNews also comment that head coach Rúben Amorim is “believed to be at a loss” at how to solve the consistent issues Mount is having.
Amorim confirms that Mount is in anguish
“Yeah, he was really sad,” the head coach told the press on Wednesday morning when asked if Mount feels upset with his injury problems.
“And, in the dressing room, he was really, really sad. So we need to help him. Like I said, when a player is in this moment with a lot of injuries, then training and then this kind of schedule. A schedule without many training [sessions] with all the squad, to make the load that he really needs.
“We try to do it with a lot of exercises, but it’s not the same. It’s hard and then you have to maintain the load. Then we have to travel. With the travel, you cannot train, so it’s really hard for them.
“We’ll try to manage, to find a better way to recover these kind of guys like Mount and Shaw, because after a few weeks and a few months, they will be ready to cope with a lot of games.”
