Rúben Amorim has issued a transfer warning to Manchester United fans as a date for Patrick Dorgu’s medical is set.

Rúben Amorim’s first two months at Manchester United have been far from smooth after taking over from Erik ten Hag.

Appointed in mid-November with United struggling in 13th place in the Premier League and floundering in the Europa League with just one win, the 40-year-old set out to revive a fractured club.

There have been moments of promise, notably away wins against Arsenal and Manchester City, but inconsistency has plagued his tenure so far. United have lost seven of their first 17 games under Amorim, winning eight and drawing two.

Off the pitch, he has faced further challenges, navigating the club’s tight financial situation while dealing with swirling speculation over the futures of Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho, and others.

Amorim’s United transfer warning

Speaking to the press on Wednesday evening, Amorim wanted to remind reporters that the January transfer window makes it hard for clubs to engage in effective transfer talks.

“This window is always really, really difficult and we don’t want to make the mistakes of the past,” the 40-year-old explained.

“We have to also understand the situation of the club. A lot of things are changing so we have to be careful in this type of window.

“You guys know the situation of the club at the moment, so it’s nothing new.”

Dorgu medical date set

Despite Amorim’s warning, multiple reports have all confirmed that Lecce 20-year-old is set to sign for United and become the first signing of a new era at Old Trafford.

It’s stated that United have agreed an initial £24 million fee with the Serie A side for Dorgu, and that a further £4.2 million in add-ons has been tagged to the deal, based on his performances for the club.

According to Fabrizio Romano, United have now booked for the player to undergo medical tests on Thursday before signing his five and a half year contract.

Dorgu is set to earn £32,000 a week at the club, but this will rise to £48,000 a week during the final year of his deal.
