Rúben Amorim to hand Manchester United debut to Academy star he ‘trusts’ with Everton inclusion possible

Rúben Amorim is set to hand a debut to one Manchester United Academy star this season after learning to “trust” him during his opening few months at Old Trafford.
Manchester United will be eager to turn their form around when they take on Everton in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.
Rúben Amorim’s side are coming off a narrow 1-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur, a result that left them 15th in the table and under increasing pressure.
United will be hoping to replicate their emphatic 4-0 victory over Everton in November, when Joshua Zirkzee and Marcus Rashford both netted braces in what remains Amorim’s biggest win so far.
However, since then, former United manager David Moyes has taken charge at Goodison Park, overseeing an upturn in form that has lifted Everton to 14th place—one point ahead of United after 25 matches.
Kone set for United debut
United confirmed that they had signed young midfielder Sekou Kone from Malian side FC Guidars in August, with the fee supposedly set at around £1 million plus add ons.
Kone has since been playing for the U18s and U21s as he adjusts to life in Manchester following his move from Africa, but he was included on the bench of United’s 1-0 loss against Tottenham.
According to GiveMeSport, following good levels of development over the last few months, United are now looking to hand Kone his first-team debut before the end of this season, accelerating initial plans to give him his first taste of action during the 2025 pre-season.
It is claimed that Kone is already starting to earn the trust of Amorim during his early months of being United’s head coach, and there is confidence behind the scenes at Carrington that Kone could thrive in the first-team’s 3-4-3 formation.
Kone is now set to be rewarded with his opening minutes as a first-team United player in the coming months and that some at United believe he may be better equipped to cope with Premier League demands than Toby Collyer.
Kone in line for Everton inclusion
Kone could be set for an inclusion in United’s squad to face Everton in the coming round of Premier League fixtures, with injuries leaving Amorim’s options in midfield thin.

Kone was chosen to make the bench against Tottenham, with Kobbie Mainoo, Manuel Ugarte, and Collyer unavailable. The former is now out for six weeks with a calf injury, and confirmed news has yet to surface on the latter two.
Unless both Ugarte and Collyer make recoveries, he could be included for the second game in a row, and depending on the game’s development, may be handed his debut against Everton.
United may have up to five players returning to the first team, but this would still leave space for three Academy players on the bench, and with Chido Obi thought to be one of said three, Kone could easily fill another slot.
United have been lacking energy in midfield in recent months with multiple first-team players struggling to maintain dominance in Amorim’s system, and following Kone’s fantastic display against Tottenham’s U21s a few weeks ago, the Malian starlet may be given a chance to thrive in the coming weeks.
