Rúben Amorim left “shocked” at something Manchester United stars keep doing, Ruud van Nistelrooy spoke about it
According to a new report, there is something that Rúben Amorim has been left “shocked” by that his Manchester United stars keep repeating at Old Trafford.
Rúben Amorim’s first two and a half months at Manchester United have been anything but smooth since succeeding Erik ten Hag.
Taking charge in mid-November with United struggling in 13th place in the Premier League and registering just one win in the Europa League, the 40-year-old set out to steady a club in crisis.
There have been encouraging signs, including impressive away victories over Arsenal and Manchester City, but inconsistency continues to plague his tenure. Under Amorim, United have won nine of their first 19 matches, losing eight and drawing two.
Off the pitch, the challenges have been just as demanding. Three senior attackers departed on loan during the winter transfer window without replacements coming in, while Lisandro Martínez could be sidelined for the rest of the season with a knee injury.
However, there have been positives. United finally strengthened at left wing-back with the signing of Patrick Dorgu, while 18-year-old centre-back Ayden Heaven has arrived as a promising addition for the future.
Amorim “shocked” at his United players
A significant factor at why Amorim has failed to yield consistent positive results at the club during his opening months is that his United players keep faltering while playing at Old Trafford.
United have lost five of their last seven fixtures at the stadium, with the only wins coming thanks to a 12-minute hat trick from Amad against Southampton and a last-gasp winning goal from Bruno Fernandes to sink Rangers.
According to GiveMeSport, Amorim has been left “shocked” at how his players keep freezing when playing at Old Trafford.
United have consistently failed to break down defensive lines while facing visitors to the famed ground, and their poor results have reflected this. Amorim knows that this is a key area he must look to fix in the coming months.
What Van Nistelrooy said about United’s home form
United are returning to Old Trafford on Friday evening as they face Leicester City in the fourth round of the FA Cup.

As well as the usual drama of the competition, it also represents a return for Ruud Van Nistelrooy, who was an assistant under Erik ten Hag before becoming caretaker manager ahead of Amorim’s arrival.
However, when asked about United’s home form on Thursday, the Dutchman, now manager of Leicester, explained that he does not believe Amorim’s recent results are indicative of his side.
“We have our own issues,” Van Nistelrooy said. “We have to look at us. I don’t believe in sequences. You can always win a game after you’ve lost a couple. We want to represent ourselves in the best way possible.”
