“The players know…” Rúben Amorim explains what Manchester United must change vs Ipswich

Rúben Amorim has explained his Manchester United players know what must change as Ipswich travel to Old Trafford for a Premier League encounter.
Rúben Amorim’s Manchester United are still searching for their first Premier League win of the month and will look to break that streak when they welcome Ipswich Town to Old Trafford on Wednesday evening.
United’s last league outing saw them draw 2-2 at Everton, with second-half goals from Bruno Fernandes and Manuel Ugarte salvaging a point after another slow start.
Amorim’s side have been criticised for their lack of intensity in the opening stages of matches, often having to recover from early setbacks.
With just two clean sheets across all competitions this season, defensive issues persist. However, against an Ipswich side struggling in the relegation zone, United have an opportunity to take control and return to winning ways.
Amorim addresses struggles vs Everton
Speaking during his pre-match press conference on Tuesday afternoon, Amorim was asked about the struggles United faced against Everton with respect to the pressing.
Everton despite the draw, Everton thoroughly outclassed United concerning their high press, with United unable to deal with the pressure and failed to reply with the same levels – but Amorim has explained that he and his players are aware about the lack of intensity.
“It’s hard to when we see the game and I know, you guys know and even the players know we had a lack of intensity,” he told the press.
“We improved not a lot in the second half but the small things of second balls we didn’t lose things without so much pressure, we were more aggressive with the ball, we changed the energy.”
Amorim must change this vs Ipswich
As Amorim said, fans were aghast to see United’s lack of intensity against Everton, and it’s been a theme that has run riot across the last six weeks at United.
The club have not scored a goal from open play in the first half of a fixture for more than ten weeks, which is a damning indictment of how poorly United have been playing of late.
Against Ipswich, Amorim must look to force his players into a more intense start and score a first-half goal which would lift the mood of the whole stadium.
United keep conceding first at Old Trafford, which puts a significant dampener on the mood of fans and players alike, and only once they stop having to fight back from losing positions will they be able to gain some momentum and a positive string of results.
