Rúben Amorim has criticised his Manchester United players for two key problems against Ipswich Town he feels they must solve.

Rúben Amorim‘s first Manchester United fixture ended in a 1-1 draw as they faced Ipswich Town in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.

The tie started fast, with Marcus Rashford opening the score inside two minutes as he knocked in a fantastic run and cross from Amad Diallo.

However, just before half-time, Omari Hutchinson struck a beautiful hit over André Onana and into the top left corner, with help from a Noussiar Mazraoui deflection.

However, Onana was brilliant throughout the tie, making multiple game-changing saves that kept the two teams in a statement as the final whistle blew.

Amorim’s two criticisms

Speaking to Sky Sports, Amorim was quick to criticise his players for two problems, explaining that he feels his players were overthinking during the tie and that they conceded possession without pressure too many times.

My players were thinking too much in the game,” he said. “We had just two days altogether, we need more.

“They leave us one against one and we have to use those moments. It is a tough match, we lost some balls without pressure.

When you start like this, you have to control the ball. We cannot do it at the moment but they really, really tried. They are really trying and they want this.

We have two ways. We try to just win games and not risk anything and at this stage next season we will have same problems. We have to address the new ideas now and try and be better for the next stage.”
