“I don’t know if I’ll be here” – Rúben Amorim’s new admission shows all about his Manchester United mentality

Rúben Amorim has laid bare his Manchester United mentality with a new admission about his future at Old Trafford amid poor form.
Rúben Amorim’s first three months at Manchester United have been anything but straightforward since taking over from Erik ten Hag.
Appointed in mid-November with United struggling in 13th place in the Premier League and winning just once in the Europa League, the 40-year-old set out to rebuild a team in need of direction.
There have been moments of encouragement, including impressive away wins over Arsenal and Manchester City, but inconsistency has been a recurring issue, leaving some fans frustrated.
In the Premier League, United have won just four of their 15 matches under Amorim and were recently knocked out of the FA Cup, leaving the Europa League as their only remaining chance of glory this campaign.
Off the pitch, the challenges have been just as demanding. Three senior attackers left on loan during the winter transfer window without replacements arriving, while Lisandro Martínez and Amad have been ruled out for the rest of the season with injuries.
Amorim makes surprising claim about his future
Speaking to Sky Sports ahead of United’s Europa League clash against Real Sociedad, Amorim made a surprising admission about his future.
Amorim’s job position has been called into question following a string of poor performances and results, but the 40-year-old has explained he feels there is light at the end of the tunnel at United due to all the changes being made above him.
What was surprising about his statement is he admitted that, although he feels United will return to the top of football, that does not mean he will be at the helm of the side when it happens.
“I understand what people are saying, because if you look at our team playing and the results, it’s hard to imagine big things in this moment for our club, but we need to, in the darkest moment, we have to have like a light and a path, and that is clear here,” Amorim said.
“And I’m sure, I don’t know if I’m going to be here, but the way we are thinking things, we are going to return, and we are going to win in the future. But then is the risk.
“We are doing a lot of things, we are not winning games, and when you don’t win games, sometimes you have to change people, and we know that.
“But as a club, I think we are doing a lot of things that are, they are hard to do it. A lot of people in the staff are paying that price, but we are doing the things that we should do to win in the future.”
This speaks volumes about his mentality
For all the drama surrounding Amorim, his admission about the future of the club speaks volumes about his mentality and ability to see a long-term vision where others may be blinded by current form.

When the head coach initially joined United, many Sporting fans warned that it would probably get worse at Old Trafford before it gets better, Amorim will look to rip up the foundations and issues set and caused by previous managers.
By his own admission, Amorim has stated that the job he has walked into is harder than he initially thought, but the fact he can still see and ending and a way out for the club, even if he is not here, says a lot.
Amorim is a manager who wants the best for his club and has bought into United’s long-term plans.
CEO Omar Berrada has been keen to point out to fans that there is no quick fix for the club’s issues, and Amorim is a head coach with the type of mentality that can understand this and work toward a long-term solution.
