“They are ready…” Rúben Amorim issues injury update on four Manchester United stars vs Leicester City
Rúben Amorim has issued the latest on three Manchester United players as Leicester City travel north to play at Old Trafford in the FA Cup on Friday evening.
Manchester United return to FA Cup action in the fourth round as they take on Leicester City at Old Trafford.
The match marks the return of Ruud van Nistelrooy, who briefly managed United for four games following Erik ten Hag’s departure before Rúben Amorim took charge. After leaving Old Trafford, the Dutchman became Leicester City’s manager.
United’s last FA Cup outing was a dramatic encounter away to Arsenal. Bruno Fernandes fired the Reds into the lead, but Diogo Dalot’s red card shifted the momentum, allowing the hosts to equalise and take the game to extra time. After a gruelling 120 minutes, United held their nerve to win on penalties.
Amorim’s men won five of their seven matches in January but are looking to bounce back from a disappointing 2-0 defeat to Crystal Palace at Old Trafford. The Leicester fixture provides the perfect chance to respond.
Amorim issues quadruple injury update
Speaking with the press on Thursday afternoon, Amorim was asked about the latest on Lisandro Martínez and Luke Shaw.
Earlier in the day, the club confirmed that Martínez had suffered an injury to his cruciate ligament against Crystal Palace last week, while news broke that Shaw had suffered a minor setback in training.
“Licha is a difficult situation,” Amorim said. He’s going to be out for a while. We don’t know the extent of the injury but it’s an injury that is going to take time.
“Luke, just a little bit, one small issue in a different area from the last injury, so we’ll try to be careful with Luke.”
Further, Amorim was asked if new winter recruits Patrick Dorgu and Ayden Heaven were available to feature, to which the head coach explained that they are ready to play but refused to say if they would be in the squad.

“We’ll see. You guys have to wait for tomorrow! But they are ready to play and they are two more solutions to help us in this moment.”
Beyond this, Jonny Evans remains out with a muscle problem. Mason Mount is not expected to return to action until next month after suffering from a hamstring issue.
