Ruben Amorim has suggested that Manchester United will not be looking at the free agent market amid links of a potential second return for Paul Pogba.

Manchester United are in a dismal position in the Premier League right now, sitting 15th in the table. Ruben Amorim has experienced major struggles since walking through the door.

The Portuguese head coach, who joined the club in November, has won just 10 games out of his first 21 in charge.

Despite the horrible form, Amorim was only backed with one major signing in the January transfer window, with Patrick Dorgu joining the club for around £25 million.

United’s financial problems have been well-documented and Amorim has even admitted that the club can no longer make huge mistakes in terms of signings.

Pogba linked with sensational United return

With there being so much noise around the financial situation at Old Trafford, many have claimed that looking into the free agent market could be a solution for Amorim.

Paul Pogba is set to return to the pitch soon after his ban was reduced after it was found that ingestion of a banned substance “was not intentional”.

The ex-United midfielder has departed Juventus and is currently a free agent. He recently sparked rumours about a potential return to Old Trafford with his Instagram activity.

Several outlets have linked the French midfielder with a sensational return to United – if he was to move back, it would be his third spell at the club.

Amorim plays down free agent rumours at United

However, despite those links, Amorim has played down the possibility of United looking at the free agent market before the end of the season.

Instead, the head coach at United believes that he has to trust the youth to help the first-team squad after gifting 17-year-old striker Chido Obi his debut last weekend. Sekou Kone is also set to make his debut for the club before the end of the season.

During his pre-Everton press conference on Friday afternoon, Amorim was asked whether he has considered adding any free agents to his squad.

“No, no. Not that idea,” the United boss instantly replied. “We have young players, we are working with young players.

“We have to really focus on that, as a club, when we have, at this moment, a lot of injuries. We should use the young players. If not, you don’t have the space for them to improve and show themselves.

“I think we really need to focus in the future of our club on the youth, because of the history and because of the reality of our club.”
