Ruben Amorim left ‘very surprised’ at Man Utd star’s “poor” abilities, he could now leave on loan

Ruben Amorim has reportedly been left ‘very surprised’ at the level from one Manchester United player who could leave on loan in the summer window.

Manchester United have been extremely poor this season and there are many changes that need to be made over the coming months.

Ruben Amorim and his staff must look at themselves and find out ways to improve how their tactical approach works in the Premier League.

But the most important thing is to sign top players and sell unwanted ones. It sounds simple but is something the club have struggled with so much in recent years.

Progress has already been made with some transfers, while Amorim has also made his decision on several United players very clear.

Amorim left ‘very surprised’ by poor United star

It was revealed earlier this week that Amorim has told Alejandro Garnacho that he should find a new club this summer and the Argentine will not be the only player leaving.

He has been part of a terrible frontline at Old Trafford this term, with Rasmus Højlund being another who has disappointed upfront.

The Danish international will end the Premier League campaign with four goals if he does not find the back of the net on the final day against Aston Villa.

According to a new report from GiveMeSport, the club are open to parting ways with Højlund this summer after his poor performances this season.

It was claimed that Amorim has made it clear to the club’s chiefs that he does not want to continue with the 22-year-old as his only striker option, and that he’s been ‘very surprised’ at the level of the player considering his huge price tag of over £70 million.

The report concluded that if United are unable to find a buyer for Højlund, who has been described as “so poor”, this summer, they are happy for him to depart on loan instead.

Should Højlund be sent on loan?

Perhaps a loan deal would be the best course of action for Højlund as he could try and improve his value away from Old Trafford as Antony and Marcus Rashford have.

United are going to sign another striker but they also need some level of depth even without Champions League football, and some may suggest that Højlund would finally be in the right role.

He joined the club at 20 and was immediately expected to become the first-choice striker at United – what a surprise that it has failed so far and he seems to be going backwards.

Even though his level has been extremely concerning this season, it feels like Højlund can become a backup striker and potentially get back on the right track.

Ultimately, it feels like it would be better to see someone be able to turn their fortunes around at the club rather than on loan. If he is not good enough to stay, selling him makes more sense.
