Ruben Amorim took charge of Manchester United earlier this season and wants to make new signings at the club in the summer.
Despite the form Manchester United are in, Ruben Amorim was only afforded one major first-team signing in the January transfer window.
Patrick Dorgu joined the club from Lecce for a reported £25 million while Ayden Heaven also came in as first-team support in defence for around £1 million.
However, there was no other business done in terms of incomings at Old Trafford since the club are preparing for a busy summer window and didn’t want to waste funds.
Romano says what Amorim is telling INEOS and Ratcliffe
Amorim has regularly spoken about the importance of having the correct profile of player for a system and that will be crucial in the summer.
There are many different aspects that you need to consider when signing players for the various positions in your team.
Yet there are several skills, almost non-negotiables, that all of those players need to have for you to be a successful team.
One of those has to be the right mentality, especially at United. Dorgu has already explained how he sees that as the “most important” aspect.
But the intensity levels of players are also crucial in the Premier League and United’s recent teams have shown how you can get left behind when you are physically weak compared to your opponents.
According to Fabrizio Romano, this is a message that Amorim is continuing to tell the club leaders, INEOS and Sir Jim Ratcliffe, ahead of the next transfer window.
“The clear intention is to invest in young players with salaries in line with the new plan wanted by INEOS, trusting Ruben Amorim’s idea,” Romano told GiveMeSport.
“He keeps telling the club how crucial it is to bring in players who can give intensity to this squad – this is the key word that will dominate the summer window for Man United.”
Dorgu’s best attributes show United strategy
It is no surprise that this is something Amorim is placing major importance on at Old Trafford and his first major signing is a good example of the strategy.
When speaking to club media after his January move, Dorgu was asked about the best attributes he will bring to the table.
“I think I’m gonna bring a lot of intensity and physique on the pitch and a lot of energy and running,” he replied.
Of course, there are a lot of other things needed at Old Trafford in order for Amorim to be successful, but it appears that improving the physical level of the squad is his initial priority.
