Rúben Amorim has provided Manchester United’s latest injury news as the squad prepares to face Bournemouth at Elland Road on Sunday afternoon.
Manchester United will look to leave 2025 behind them as Rúben Amorim prepares for his first fixture of the new year, making the trip to Elland Road to take on Leeds United on Sunday afternoon.
The past year was a disappointing one for United, who fell short at key moments, losing the Europa League final to Tottenham and finishing 15th in the 2024/25 Premier League.
This season has offered a more encouraging outlook. Amorim’s side sit sixth at the halfway stage, level on points with fifth-placed Chelsea, while Leeds head into the contest full of confidence.
After a poor start that dragged them into the relegation picture, Daniel Farke’s side have since found their rhythm and are now unbeaten in six matches.
That run includes two draws against Liverpool and another with Sunderland, alongside home wins over Chelsea and Crystal Palace, providing strong momentum heading into The Roses Derby.
Amorim issues United injury updates vs Leeds
United were missing five players due to injury against Wolves, with Kobbie Mainoo, Matthijs de Ligt, Bruno Fernandes, Harry Maguire, and Mason Mount unavailable.
At the same time, Amad, Bryan Mbeumo, and Noussair Mazraoui remain at the Africa Cup of Nations, as all three have qualified for the knockout stage with their respective countries.
Speaking on Friday afternoon, Amorim was asked about the latest injury update on his squad and confirmed he does not expect any of the eight unavailable players to return to face Leeds. However, there have been no further problems.
“We are going [with] no [fresh] issues, no different issues,” he told reporters.
“We’re going to see tomorrow, we have one more training. I don’t think so, that anyone is going to recover, but we’ll see.”
Collyer added back to first-team squad
With no European football to play this season, United loaned out many of those on the brink of their first-team squad, with the likes of Harry Amass, Radek Vitek, and Toby Collyer all heading to the Championship.

However, while the former two have excelled at Sheffield Wednesday and Bristol City, respectively, Collyer suffered an injury while at West Brom and returned to Carrington.
The 21-year-old was then officially recalled by United, and according to the Manchester Evening News, there is a real chance he could remain at Old Trafford.
Collyer is set to be fit once again before the end of January, and amid United’s lack of midfielders due to injury and other mitigating circumstances, may be reinstated back into the first-team squad.
