Ruben Amorim has told the Manchester United squad how he will deal with an issue recently brought up by captain Bruno Fernandes.

Ruben Amorim took charge of his first training session at Manchester United this week as he prepares for his opening Premier League fixture against Ipswich Town.

He has so much to do at Old Trafford as the team approaches the busiest period of the season, with the club fighting on four fronts.

Yet, the 39-year-old does not only have to make sure he improves United on the pitch, but also use his charm and managerial skills behind the scenes.

What Bruno Fernandes said

Last time out against Leicester City, Bruno Fernandes admitted that Alejandro Garnacho had been impacted by a group of fans who he felt he ‘lost faith’ of in recent weeks.

It was an admission that no one wanted to hear, with Garnacho’s muted celebration for a wonderful goal leaving a bitter taste for some.

“Garnacho scored a banger but didn’t celebrate like he should because he thinks he has lost faith from some fans,” Fernandes told the BBC.

“I told him people will always moan, but lots of people like you and enjoy what you do.

“I told him to celebrate, it was something special. He is a special player, we have difference-makers. They are the ones who win us games.”

How Ruben Amorim will deal with squad

Ultimately, things have changed since the likes of Roy Keane and Gary Neville were roaming the pitch. It isn’t entirely surprising to know that social media and negativity impacts young players in today’s game.

Whilst Erik ten Hag was at the helm, he was sometimes guilty of leaving the blame on his players to worsen the issue. Yet, under Amorim, there will be complete support for those who work under him, as previous shown at Sporting.

“Man-management is his most important asset,” a representative of one Sporting player told The Times. “Ask the lads and most of them will tell you that he’s the best coach they’ve ever had.”

The head coach also reaffirmed the position he holds during his first interview with the club’s media team.

“I will defend my players if I have to, all the time, against everybody. That is a key point for me,” he stressed.

“I will try to do everything to put this club in the place that it belongs. And I believe a lot that we are going to succeed.”
