Ruben Amorim has learned one big thing about Man Utd star after Ipswich draw, he will make a change
Ruben Amorim has learned one big thing about one of his Manchester United stars after drawing to Ipswich Town and he will likely make a change.
Manchester United drew 1-1 against Ipswich Town in Ruben Amorim’s first game in charge after going ahead in the opening minutes.
Amad Diallo provided a magical run and assist for Marcus Rashford but that was as good as it came for Amorim’s side at Portman Road.
The Reds conceded a long-range effort, via a Noussair Mazraoui deflection, just before the half-time break.
In the second half, there were minimal chances created in the final third with players like Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho struggling to make an impact.
Apart from André Onana in goal, Amad was the brightest spark for Amorim’s side. The 22-year-old was excellent for the goal and provided a threat in attack on other occasions when he got forward.
But the Ivorian did start at wingback for the team and it was somewhat understandable considering his defensive contribution.
He made several important interceptions or tackles and covered the flank well when United were out of possession.
However, Amorim would have learned that Amad needs to be closer to goal as he can make more impact than most others in the squad.
He can certainly play out wide but his close control and linkup was evident from deep, and in his previous performances, and that looked like something that was missing in central areas.
Amorim admitted that he wanted to use players who had been in training throughout the week during the international break, but the team will likely change in the coming games.
Once more options are available at wingback, it will be interesting to see how long it takes Amorim to use Amad in that attacking midfield role.
It was shown in training footage, and it will likely be shown in games soon enough because Amad is one of the few players who shown many things that the boss will like.
