Ruben Amorim hails “important” attribute that Patrick Dorgu has, it could save Manchester United’s season

Ruben Amorim will be an extremely big fan of one attribute Patrick Dorgu has if he signs for Manchester United this month.

Manchester United are looking to secure the signing of Patrick Dorgu before the January transfer deadline.

Dorgu, 20, would provide an option at wingback under Ruben Amorim, which is a position United have struggled in recently.

The Danish international has been shining at Italian club Lecce, who signed him in the summer of 2023 from FC Nordsjaelland’s youth academy.

Amorim hails “important” Dorgu attribute

Nordsjaelland’s technical director Alexander Riget has been speaking about Dorgu’s development recently and explained one of his biggest strengths to Sport Witness.

The young player has an “abnormal” ability to avoid any injury issues, which is always a boost for any team.

“He’s never injured – never,” Riget, who watched Dorgu closely during his time at Nordsjaelland, explained.

“He played for Nordsjælland for six or seven years and I can’t remember him having one day where he was injured, which is very abnormal when you are growing. That is also a very good thing.”

United’s current options at left-back include Tyrell Malacia and Luke Shaw, two players whose fitness levels have major question marks over for good reason.

Amorim has already explained how important it is for a player to be consistently available in his latest praise of Bruno Fernandes.

“When we are under pressure, he is always the guy that wants the ball and he is always available, that is so important, especially in the Premier League,” explained the United boss.

“And then, he can run, and he runs a lot, he can fight a lot. He has two side and I have to help him manage both situations. We are lucky to have a player like Bruno Fernandes.”

This appears to be exactly what he’s going to be getting with Dorgu if the club get a deal over the line in the next week.

Dorgu can help United under Amorim

According to transfermarkt, during his career so far, Dorgu has only missed one game through an injury.

United’s biggest problem under Amorim has come at wingback and the addition of Dorgu could help salvage the club’s season.

The 20-year-old is a much better attack-minded option than the likes of Diogo Dalot and Noussair Mazraoui.

More importantly, is the ability to play consistently and Dorgu looks like he will be able to match the physical demands of the Premier League.

Amorim has made it clear that a lot of United players need to improve their fitness levels to match his desired system, so he needs players who are capable in that department like Fernandes, and Dorgu ticks that box.
