Ruben Amorim finally implementing debut plan for “really dangerous” Man Utd starlet after four month wait

Ruben Amorim has had to wait around four months before implementing a debut plan for one “brilliant” starlet at Manchester United.

Manchester United appointed Ruben Amorim last November following the club’s decision to relieve Erik ten Hag from his duties as manager.

Many fans were excited about the Portuguese boss and his history of bringing through youth players at Sporting due to the incredible talent within United’s ranks.

So far, the 40-year-old head coach has given first-team debuts to Chido Obi and Harry Amass while the likes of Jack Fletcher, Tyler Fredricson, Godwill Kukonki and Jack Moorhouse have all been in matchday squads.

However, it was also reported towards the start of Amorim’s spell that Bendito Mantato would have a good chance of first-team involvement.

Amorim includes Mantato in training after four month wait

Mantato is one player who seems like he’d suit Amorim’s style as a wingback perfectly. He has moved from left-back to right wing in the last year and his profile seems to fit that role.

But the 17-year-old suffered an unfortunate injury shortly after Amorim arrived and that halted his progression into the first-team squad.

He returned to action at the end of February and made an immediate impact, scoring the winning goal in the FA Youth Cup quarter-final against Arsenal.

With the teenager now back in action, it appears that Amorim is now able to implement a potential debut plan for him and that was shown by his involvement in first-team training on Friday afternoon.

Mantato was among a small group of Academy stars, including Amass and Obi, who were among Amorim’s training squad ahead of their game against Nottingham Forest next Tuesday.

Amorim keen to give Mantato debut after new contract

Following on from this, it was revealed by AcademyScoop that Mantato is set to sign his first professional contract at United next week.

The report also explained that the youngster is “held in high regard” by those at Old Trafford, with Amorim keen to offer him a debut before the season ends.

Under-21s boss Travis Binnion recently tipped Mantato to be promoted to the first-team after a “really dangerous” display against West Brom.

“Obviously, he’s got a really good chance, the football club thinks a lot of him, brilliant mentality,” Binnion told club media.

“I’m pleased to see him get a goal, pleased to see him working at his game. As I say, his mentality is excellent and he played a part with a lot of other players tonight that made us look really dangerous and exciting.”
