Ruben Amorim explains reason for Man United lineup vs Ipswich as Marcus Rashford starts
Ruben Amorim has explained the reasoning for his Manchester United lineup against Ipswich Town as Marcus Rashford starts upfront for the team.
The new Manchester United boss has had a week on the training pitch at Carrington and now faces Ipswich Town in the Premier League.
Ruben Amorim has decided to start Marcus Rashford as the no.9, with Joshua Zirkzee and Rasmus Højlund on the bench.
Bruno Fernandes and Alejandro Garnacho are also starting and expected to be in the two positions behind the Englishman.
Casemiro and Christian Eriksen are in the midfield with Amad Diallo and Diogo Dalot reported to be stationed as the wingbacks.
Matthijs de Ligt, Jonny Evans and Noussair Mazraoui are in the back three in front of André Onana.
The head coach has made some interesting decisions, but explains that he wants to use players that have trained more with him.
The likes of Højlund, Zirkzee and Manuel Ugarte have been on international duty, while other players are only just returning from injury.
“That is the key point, the time that we had to train. I tried to put the players that I have more time with to train and we will start in this way,” he told Sky Sports.
“Because when you train you need to pass the information and some of the lads have just had one training [session]. One training [session] is not enough.”
The 39-year-old also claimed that other players will get the chance to impress in what is going to be a very busy period of the campaign.
“So I want my players comfortable and it will be time for everybody during this sequence of games,” he added.
