Rúben Amorim lieutenant launches staunch defence of Manchester United coach – “He will be fine”

Diogo Dalot has launched a staunch defence for Rúben Amorim after criticisms of his coaching style and persona as Manchester United’s head coach.

Rúben Amorim’s first few months at Manchester United has been marred with criticism and inconsistency following a series of poor results.

Although not all are down to him, the club have lost 13 Premier League fixtures so far this season, and after exiting the Carabao Cup and FA Cup earlier in the campaign, the Europa League is now the club’s only shot at glory.

United have been hit with a series of injury blows which have left stars such as Amad and Lisandro Martínez out of action, but still, there have been a number of poor results that have left fans scratching their heads.

However, many of United’s players have come out to defend the head coach, with Diogo Dalot known to be a lieutenant of Amorim’s during his few months at Old Trafford so far.

Dalot launches staunch defence of Amorim

Amorim has not hidden away from the mess at United, but some fans and those in the media have criticised him for being overly honest at points this season.

However, speaking to talkSPORT, Dalot has defended his head coach, explaining that his honesty is one of his best qualities.

“I think it’s one of the best compliments that you can give about him, is that he’s really honest,” The 26-year-old explained.

“I think you can see that when he speaks, he’s not trying to give the right answer. He just speaks from the heart.

“And it’s difficult for a manager to always be completely honest. But I think it’s something that since I’ve known him as a manager, he’s always been like that.”

Dalot continued, saying: “And then, people will judge him by his words, by his actions. But that’s part of football.

“We, football players, will be judged by what we do on the pitch. So as a manager, you’re always exposed to that. But I think he’s a really good communicator, so he will be fine.”

Amorim is not saying what fans want to hear

Amorim is not saying what fans have wanted to hear, which has gone against the norm of previous managers at United, but it’s the best possible thing he can do.

Everyone in and around and a fan of the club knows that the Old Trafford side are in dire straights, but Amorim communicating in an honest and matter-of-fact fashion to the fans and his players will stand him well in the future.

There have been signs of improvement of late, with many stating that although the club lost 1-0 against Nottingham Forest, the football they played looked much improved.

With United facing Manchester City, Olympique Lyonnais, Newcastle, and others in the next few weeks, it’s a hard run for the Reds, but one that they can build from if they can grab wins.
