Rúben Amorim has confirmed Manchester United’s latest team news as they prepare to face Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday afternoon.
With the October 2025 international break over, Manchester United are back in Premier League action with a trip to Anfield to face Liverpool.
Rúben Amorim’s men sit 10th in the table after winning three of their opening seven matches, but there’s a growing sense of belief within the squad as they prepare to face a Liverpool side struggling for form under Arne Slot.
Liverpool began the season with five straight league victories but have since lost three consecutive matches in all competitions — against Crystal Palace, Galatasaray, and Chelsea. Late goals cost them dearly in both domestic defeats, while their trip to Turkey ended in a 1-0 loss.
United will be looking to build on their 2-0 win over Sunderland before the break, with Amorim hopeful that a strong display at Anfield can kickstart a run of positive results.
Amorim delivers United injury news
On Thursday afternoon, it was noted that neither Bruno Fernandes nor Casemiro were in training, although Lisandro Martínez had almost returned to the group.
Speaking to the press on Friday afternoon, Amorim confirmed that neither of the aforementioned players is injured, and they had both just been given extra recovery time.
However, he admitted that he is unsure of when Noussair Mazraoui will return. So far this season, the Moroccan has had some “insane” cameos but has struggled to maintain consistent fitness.
“Licha is near, but almost returning to the trainings with the team,” Amorim told reporters at Carrington.
“Mazraoui, I don’t know. The rest of the guys, the national team [players], they are ready. But, if you saw the games, some players play in Japan, so we need to be careful, to give more time.
“Diogo [Dalot] didn’t play the last game [with Portugal], he was here [yesterday]. Bruno played 62 minutes, we gave [him] one more day [to recover].
“We try to balance everything to have everyone ready. But they are ready, the guys are returning from national teams. They are ready to play.”
Slot confirms two Liverpool boosts vs United
Earlier this week, news broke that Liverpool were sweating over the fitness of up to five players, with key men such as Ryan Gravenberch and Ibrahima Konaté suffering from possible problems while on international duty.
However, speaking on Friday morning, Slot explained that both players should be fit to face United, although goalkeeper Alisson Becker will not return in time.
“Ryan is completely fit, still has to train, but fit, we are in a good place with the Dutch side,” Slot told the media. “Ibou [Konate] has come to back to us and is expected to train today.
“Alisson is not training, so he is out. How long out? Difficult to say as the end phase of rehab always gives you positives and negatives, but not the weekend or next week.”
