Rúben Amorim confirms third Man Utd injury after Harry Maguire and Benjamin Šeško vs Tottenham, “I think he has…”

Manchester United have issued the latest on Harry Maguire and Benjamin Šeško following injuries against Tottenham Hotspur in a 2-2 Premier League draw.

Manchester United came from behind to secure a 2–2 draw with Tottenham Hotspur in a thrilling Premier League clash on Saturday afternoon.

The first 30 minutes saw a cagey start, with United controlling possession but neither side testing the goalkeeper. Tottenham broke the deadlock when Bryan Mbeumo nodded home a pinpoint cross from Amad.

United held their slim lead into halftime, but Spurs pressed hard after the break. Senne Lammens made several smart saves, while Brennan Johnson had a goal chalked off for offside around the 60th minute.

As both managers made changes to find a winner, substitute Mathys Tel equalised for Tottenham with seven minutes left. In stoppage time, Richarlison appeared to snatch the win for Spurs, only for Matthijs de Ligt to score a towering header, ensuring the match ended in a dramatic draw.

United issue Maguire injury update

Around the 70th minute, with United defending a 1-0 lead at the time, it was spotted that centre-back Harry Maguire, who was making his first start since the 2-1 win over Liverpool last month, had a hamstring issue.

The defender was clearly struggling in the middle of the park, and shortly after Bruno Fernandes squandered a reasonable effort, the 32-year-old was withdrawn and replaced by 19-year-old Leny Yoro.

Benjamin Šeško then came on in the second half, but following a collision with Spurs defender Micky Van de Ven, had to be withdrawn with a knee injury with around 10 minutes left to play.

Speaking after the game, Amorim was asked about how he saw the overall fixture, to which he also confirmed that Casemiro had to come off due to a possible injury, too.

“If you see the game, I think during the game you feel that the three points were there to take home,” Amorim told TNT Sports.

“But then, with everything that happened — Harry has to come out, Casemiro has to come out, Ben — then they score two goals again in a short period of time, but to manage to score again, so it’s a point.

“When you cannot win, you don’t lose the game, and once again, we managed to do that. But if you look at the game, if you feel the environment, we have so much to grow as a team, because today was our day to win this game.”

When pressed on Šeško, the United boss replied, “We have to see, we think he has a problem but let’s see.”

United have enough cover

Although Maguire has been important for Amorim whenever he has played, being a brilliant presence for the club in both boxes, with two weeks now to recover across the international break, United have enough cover for the defender even if he does not return.

Matthijs de Ligt has been stunning in the middle of the back three this season, competing with Mbeumo for United’s Player of the season vote so far, while other centre-backs are also eager to make their mark in the side.

Noussair Mazraoui played as a wing-back against Spurs, but has also shown a good amount of proficiency as a right centre-back, while Leny Yoro and Luke Shaw have also been on good form.

At the same time, Lisandro Martínez is expected to return to the matchday squad once domestic football returns later this month.

As for cover for Šeško, United have Matheus Cunha and Joshua Zirkzee, who can both play through the middle, although it’s also hoped that the 22-year-old has not suffered too much of a signifiacnt problem.
