Ruben Amorim has responded to criticism from Sean Dyche regarding his Manchester United side, as he prepares to face Nottingham Forest this weekend.
Manchester United’s turbulent start to the new season has turned around over the last month, with the Reds now flying high off the back of three consecutive Premier League wins.
Ruben Amorim has had a big part to play in this turnaround of late, with his stubbornness regarding his unique system finally starting to reap some rewards.
Not only has Amorim impressed recently, but all of United’s four summer signings have also become fan favourites, most specifically, Bryan Mbeumo and Senne Lammens.
Next in line for the Reds is an away trip to Nottingham Forest, where they will face Sean Dyche in his first home fixture since being appointed to the club.
Dyche digs at Amorim
After being sacked by Everton last season, Dyche gave his opinion on what was an out-of-form United side during an episode of the No Tippy Tappy Football podcast in August.
Dyche said regarding Amorim’s side, via Manchester Evening News, “I may get hammered for it, but I bet I could win more games with that squad playing a 4-4-2.”
Amorim responded to this by saying, “First of all, maybe it’s true if we play 4-4-2, we won more games, but I always said that I have a way of playing that is going to take a while, but in the future it’s going to be better. So we don’t know that. Then I can look at Sean Dyche as a manager and then as a pundit.
“If you are a pundit and you don’t say very strong things, I don’t want to watch you! I’m the same. So I can understand that it’s a completely different job. I know that Sean Dyche is really smart, and he knows how to play the game.
“And he also understands that one thing is when we are seeing the game and talking about the game, the other thing is to coach a team. So I understand that, I have nothing to say, I just want to win the next game.”
United’s tough test
With the Reds desperate to keep their winning streak alive, Amorim will face a tough test against what is likely to be a very pumped-up Forest side at their home ground.
Injuries seem to be favouring United ahead of this fixture, as they have an almost fully fit side, whilst their opponents will be without the likes of Chris Wood, Ola Aina, Dilane Bakwa, and potentially even Oleksandr Zinchenko.

The only concerns for United ahead of the tie are a couple of knocks with Harry Maguire and Mason Mount, whilst it is thought that Luke Shaw will be fine for the tie.
Despite it being a difficult test for the Red Devils, they will fancy their chances given that their opponents are currently eight league games without a win.
