Ruben Amorim has broken his silence on Marcus Rashford’s latest interview where he hinted at a potential Manchester United exit.

Marcus Rashford addressed recent speculation about his future at Manchester United during an interview with Henry Winter on the social media platform X.

United’s No. 10 has experienced an inconsistent season, featuring sporadically under both Erik ten Hag and Ruben Amorim.

During the 3-3 draw against FC Porto, Rashford was substituted at halftime by Ten Hag, despite scoring twice in the first half.

Under Amorim’s management, he has netted three goals in two Premier League starts but was left out of the Manchester Derby squad following a disappointing performance against Viktoria Plzen.

Reports suggest Rashford could be sold as part of Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s plans to improve the club’s financial position. Selling homegrown players is particularly advantageous for balancing the books, as seen with Scott McTominay’s departure last summer.

Amid the speculation, the club’s star forward was asked whether he will stay or leave Old Trafford and he admitted to wanting a ‘new challenge’.

“For me, personally, I think I’m ready for a new challenge and the next steps,” he said.

“When I leave it’s going to be ‘no hard feelings’. You’re not going to have any negative comments from me about Manchester United. That’s me as a person.”

Following on from those comments, Amorim was asked about the situation in his pre-match press conference for the Carabao Cup clash against Tottenham Hotspur.

The United head coach made his feelings clear that United are better with Rashford.

“Of course, because this kind of club needs big talent and he’s a big talent. He just needs to perform at the highest level. That is my focus. I just want to help Marcus.”

Amorim also admitted he had not spoken to Rashford since his comments as Tuesday was a day off for the United players.

“He’s our player and he’s ready for the next game,” Amorim added. “I spoke with a lot of players individually and during trainings.

“What I want is to take the best of Marcus Rashford and the other players. I don’t talk about the future. I talk about the present.

“I want to best of each of them. I just want to win and help the team to be better. We are better with Marcus Rashford, that’s simple and we try our best to push Marcus Rashford to the level he is at before.”

On whether Rashford and Garnacho would return to the United squad for the trip to Spurs, Amorim said: “We have one more training but it’s the same as the other players. If they train well, then I have to make a choice. We’ll see at the end of training.

“I expect the best of each player every day so we will see after training.”

Rashford has made 426 appearances for United since his debut in February 2016, with 138 goals scored in that time.
