Rúben Amoirm has issued an update on the status of Ayden Heaven following his injury as Manchester United scored three times against Leicester City on Sunday evening.

Manchester United cruised to a commanding 3-0 victory over Leicester City, with goals from Rasmus Højlund, Alejandro Garnacho, and Bruno Fernandes propelling Rúben Amorim’s side up to 13th in the Premier League table.

The match began with both sides creating early half-chances, but it took until the 30th minute for United to break the deadlock. Fernandes picked out Højlund with a brilliant pass, and the Danish forward clinically slotted home to put the hosts in front.

Leicester pushed for an equaliser before half-time, with Wilfred Ndidi and Patson Daka both threatening, but they failed to convert their opportunities, leaving United ahead at the break.

Shortly after the restart, United suffered a setback as Ayden Heaven was stretchered off and replaced by Toby Collyer. Garnacho thought he had doubled the lead soon after, only for his goal to be disallowed for offside. However, the Argentine winger made amends ten minutes later, producing a stunning turn and finish to put United firmly in control.

Fernandes then capped off the performance in style, netting a superb strike in the closing stages to wrap up a dominant 3-0 win for Amorim’s men.

What happened to Heaven vs Leicester?

Heaven was starting for United for only the second time following his transfer from Arsenal in January, and he was halfway through putting in yet another quality performance.

The 18-year-old was playing as a left centre-back in the absence of Leny Yoro and made some crucial interceptions in the first half while continuing to show his proficiency on the ball.

However, just minutes into the second half, the defender went down after doing his duties in a challenge at the back post, immediately signalling to the bench and being stretchered off.

Sky Sports refused to show a replay of the incident, which often indicates that it is a partially stressful piece of football.

Collyer was then substituted onto the pitch and filled in at left wing-back, with Matthijs de Ligt taking Heaven’s spot, Noussair Mazraoui moving to right centre-back, and Diogo Dalot switching to the right flank from the left hand side.

What Amorim said about Heaven’s injury

After the full-time whistle, a lot of the focus was on what happened to Heaven despite United’s three goals and 3-0 win at the King Power Stadium.

Head coach Amorim was asked about Heaven’s injury, and he explained that the club would not no more until later this week. He also stated that it’s hard to know the extent of his injury because, as a young player, it’s harder for Heaven to describe his pain.

“We will see next week,” he explained. “It’s hard to understand because even when he’s on the ground, he can’t speak, he doesn’t know how to explain what he’s feeling because he’s so young. It’s hard to understand what he’s feeling.”

Speaking to Sky Sports, Amorim said: “It’s hard to know because we have to evaluate during the week. He already played well against Arsenal and Real Sociedad. Today for me was the most difficult game for him because we expect him to relax a bit, but he was so focused.

“Today for me was the most difficult game for him because we expect him to relax a bit, but he was so focused. It was clear today my players are at the limit. We are going to use this window to rest and recover, it will be good.

“The feeling is completely different. When we return it will be like starting from scratch.”
