Ruben Amorim analyses three reasons why Amad Diallo could be ‘key’ for Man Utd setup
Ruben Amorim has been analysing his new Manchester United squad and reportedly views Amad Diallo as a potential ‘key’ player for his new setup.
Manchester United’s new head coach Ruben Amorim joined the club last week but did not begin his work on the training pitch until Monday morning.
The 39-year-old and his coaching team had to wait for visa approvals, which have since been finalised.
It is now a matter of days until Amorim leads the team out for the first time in the Premier League with an away game against Ipswich Town.
Amorim analyses Amad’s potential impact
The new boss at Old Trafford has reportedly been doing his homework on his United squad, both in training and with video footage.
One player who has stood out to him is 22-year-old Amad Diallo, who excelled in the final two games of Ruud Van Nistelrooy’s interim spell.
GiveMeSport reports that Amorim has been excited by the attacker’s technical ability, work off the ball, and creativity in the final third.
It was explained that those are three traits that could make Amad a key player in Amorim’s new-look 3-4-3 setup.
Amad is looking to push his way into the lineup against Ipswich after operating as one of the two no.10s in Amorim’s first training session.
Amad finally getting his chance
Amad has not had consistent game-time at Old Trafford since his move to the club from Atalanta several years ago.
It seems like he could finally be afforded this chance in a system which may get the best out of him.
On loan at Sunderland, the Ivorian often played as the right-winger on paper but regularly moved inside to more central zones – an extremely similar role to what Amorim plans to do.
The one criticism people have thrown Amad’s way in recent months is his lack of killer instinct in his final action. Funnily enough, the same claims were made during his early weeks at the Stadium of Light.
Yet, after some consistent game-time, it clicked for the player who went on to score 14 Championship goals, and he will be hoping that he can replicate that final third turnaround under Amorim.
