Ruben Amorim admits shock at 61st minute moment during Manchester United vs Brighton, it is ‘not normal’

Ruben Amorim found himself in shock in the second half at Old Trafford as United battled against Brighton, creating a moment that could only be described as “not normal”.

Manchester United climbed up to 4th place after their impressive 4-2 win against Brighton at Old Trafford.

Bryan Mbeumo’s brace, as well as goals from Cunha and Casemiro, handed United their 3rd win in a row in the Premier League, where they now sit in fourth place.

United managed to stay ahead in the game and hold off a spirited Brighton response as they scored two second-half goals to put themselves back into the game, but the Reds managed to see the game through.

Rúben Amorim was stunned by a moment in the 61st minute as his side were 3-0 up, something that he had never experienced before as United’s manager.

Amorim surprised by the brilliant crowd reaction to United’s impressive display

The United boss was left amazed by the erupting fans at Old Trafford following United’s third goal, as he stated, “the noise of the stadium was not normal.”

In the 61st minute, summer signing Mbeumo netted his first goal of the evening after receiving a tidy pass from Benjamin Šeško, leaving the Cameroonian face-to-face with experienced defender Lewis Dunk.

The 26-year-old cut in on his favoured left foot, shaping to bend his effort into the far corner, but he smartly reversed his shot into the near post, burying the ball through Dunk’s legs and past a sprawling Bart Verbruggen.

The reaction of the fans left Amorim delighted, as he continued to say, “It was the first time I’ve ever heard that kind of sound.”

Amorim stated that it was his “favourite moment of today” as his players finally found some fluidity in their play.

Amorim’s summer signings proving to be special

This piece of magic from Mbeumo came from a swift Šeško turn away from Van Hecke with some brilliant hold-up play before he slid the ball into Mbeumo’s feet.

The victory was a brilliant display from United’s summer signings, with a goal for Cunha, two goals for Mbeumo, an assist for Šeško and another confident display from goalkeeper, Senne Lammens.

After almost a full year in charge at Man Utd, things may have finally started to look up for Amorim, who has not had an easy journey as United manager.

United fans will hope that this positive momentum will continue into their next fixture when they travel to Nottinghamshire to face Nottingham Forest at the City Ground.
