Rúben Amorim “absolutely delighted” with what Man Utd showed vs Tottenham, it’s becoming a trend

Rúben Amorim will be thrilled with one thing his Manchester United side showed against Tottenham Hotspur in their 2-2 draw.

Manchester United dug deep to draw 2-2 against Tottenham Hotspur to make it five games unbeaten in the league for the first time under Rúben Amorim.

Bryan Mbeumo took the lead for Manchester United just after the half-hour mark. Amad sent in a pinpoint cross for the Cameroonian to latch onto and fired the ball past Guglielmo Vicario to score his sixth of the season.

In the second half, Spurs turned up the pressure on United and scored two daggers in the final few minutes. Mathys Tel found himself open in the box with five minutes to go and thumped the ball past Senne Lammens.

In added time, Richarlison thought he won the game after the ball deflected off him following a shot by Wilson Odobert. However, at the other end, Matthijs de Ligt powered home a dramatic late header to take home the point.

United’s mentality praised

Yet again, United found themselves on the verge of a second-half capitulation like against Nottingham Forest last weekend.

However, the side has seemed to find a knack for never backing down and playing to the very end to not end up on the losing side. A trend Amorim will be hoping the team can maintain.

This shift of mentality was something that Glen Murray on BBC Radio 5 Live had noticed about the Red Devils. “To give three points away in the last minute is criminal [from Spurs],” he stated.

“Thomas Frank will be absolutely fuming with his men, but Ruben Amorim will be absolutely delighted that his team have shown character.”

Beginning to show consistency

The word consistency has been a buzzword that has surrounded Amorim during his time at United. It has been something that the club have lacked but so dearly craved.

This fight and determination shown at different stages throughout the last five games are evidence that United are growing more and more each game.

While ending games like this and against Forest are not sustainable in the future, the confidence boost and euphoria of scoring goals will galvanise the entire squad and fanbase.

With games against Everton and Crystal Palace to come, the fixtures will not get any easier, but they will be good litmus tests for where United are at so far and if they can keep up these results.
