Roy Keane thinks Ruben Amorim will have stunning nine-word claim about Manchester United players after Arsenal defeat
Roy Keane thinks Ruben Amorim will have a stunning nine-word claim about his Manchester United players after defeat to Arsenal.
Rúben Amorim suffered his first defeat as Manchester United head coach in a 2-0 loss to Arsenal on Wednesday night at the Emirates Stadium.
United focused on neutralising Arsenal’s attack with a disciplined defensive setup, which successfully frustrated Mikel Arteta’s side in the first half. However, this approach came at the expense of United’s own attacking threat.
In the second half, Arsenal broke the deadlock, capitalising on their physical advantage to score twice from corners.
Despite the result, there were positives for United, including a standout performance from Harry Maguire and an encouraging debut for Leny Yoro.
Amorim now faces the challenge of addressing the team’s shortcomings as they look to bounce back in the coming weeks.
Roy Keane on Ruben Amorim’s task
Roy Keane was unimpressed by the United players in this game, especially going forward, and believes Amorim will be questioning them.
He said on The Overlap: “He’s only just in the door, but I still think he’ll be looking at it after taking over as Manchester United manager and thinking, ‘I thought you’d be a bit better than this’.
“Going forward, whatever about the team shape and getting lads back and getting players back in but I’m still thinking, ‘oof’.
“I’m disappointing, United need a goal, they’re 2-0 down and lads going backwards and sideways. Go forward and try and score a goal, bloody hell!
“Do you know what, when you see a game like that against a decent team like Arsenal, it makes you realise the big job he’s got ahead of him.”
United turn their attention to Nottingham Forest next, as they return to Old Trafford in the hopes of securing a win in the Premier League clash
