Roy Keane has slammed Manchester United’s stars following their 1-1 draw with West Ham United, stating that they ‘couldn’t see’ something blatantly obvious.
Manchester United were yet again unable to pick up a win at home, but this time they were thwarted by a rigid West Ham United side, who managed to salvage a draw late into the game.
Ruben Amorim’s side took the lead through a well-taken Diogo Dalot finish, although they failed to add to their lead, and eventually were made to pay as Soungoutou Magassa hit home in the 83rd minute.
This result has left the Red Devils eighth in the Premier League, although a win would have seen them rise to fifth. A very disappointing result to say the least.
Following their draw to Nuno Espirito Santo’s side, former United star Roy Keane was quick to slam the United stars, stating that they ‘couldn’t see’ something painfully obvious.
Keane slates United stars
When speaking after the game, the former midfielder said, Roy Keane: “We feel like something could happen, so I don’t understand how the players can’t feel it. No matter how.
“You might be playing a really poor team, but you know anything can happen. We’ve just seen it over the set piece. And obviously West Ham stayed in the game and good delivery.
“But United… Again, you feel like in America, you’re not calling a timeout. And yet the United players together 70 minutes ago. Lads, you know… You know the game’s in the balance still?”
The United legend didn’t mince his words following his former side’s disappointing result, and his uninterested expression spoke a thousand words.
United struggling at both ends
Unfortunately for Amorim’s side, when it comes to these games where United are expected to have most of the ball, they struggle to break down their opponents.
Not just this, but the Reds also look very vulnerable when their attacks are thwarted, and their opponents pick up the ball. This has seen them pick up one point from their last two home fixtures.
Unlike their neighbours, Manchester City, Amorim’s side can’t make up for their defensive woes with attacking ruthlessness, and have yet again paid the consequence for not killing off their opponent.
This is becoming far too common of an occurrence for the Reds, and it will be something that Amorim needs to address urgently if his side are to make the most of their kind run of festive fixtures.
