“It’s so bad…” Roy Keane fires sharp warning to Manchester United despite Liverpool heroics
Roy Keane has sent a sharp warning to Manchester United’s players despite their fantastic Premier League performance against Liverpool on Sunday afternoon.
Manchester United held league leaders Liverpool to a thrilling 2-2 draw at Anfield on Sunday afternoon, as Rúben Amorim’s side fought back from behind to secure a vital point.
United started the match confidently, focusing on controlling possession and nullifying Liverpool’s potent attack with disciplined defending.
As the first half progressed, United grew into the game, with Rasmus Højlund coming close to breaking the deadlock before the interval. After the break, the visitors came out firing, and Lisandro Martínez struck a well-placed effort past Alisson to give Amorim’s side the lead, following a clever assist from Bruno Fernandes.
Liverpool, however, were quick to respond. Cody Gakpo equalised just before the hour mark, and the home side seized the advantage when Mohammed Salah converted a penalty with 20 minutes remaining after Matthijs de Ligt was penalised for a handball.
Trailing 2-1, Amorim made a bold attacking move, introducing Alejandro Garnacho. The substitute made an immediate impact, setting up Amad Diallo to level the score with ten minutes to play.
In classic Premier League fashion, the closing stages saw both teams pushing relentlessly for a winner, but neither could find the decisive goal. The match ended in a hard-fought draw, with both sides earning a share of the spoils.
Keane’s sharp warning to United
Speaking to Sky Sports after the game, former United captain Roy Keane was quick to warn United that the performance they showed at Anfield will only count for something if they continue to play at this level.
“I hope the message coming out from United over the next few days is also that, listen, we actually still have that belief,” Keane said.
“I know the manager spoke before the game about they’re anxious and they’re nervous, but the players have to come up with a message. We still believe we can turn in that type of performances.
“We have seen them before. The problems, they don’t do it week in, week out. Far from it. They’re very inconsistent. You should look at the league table and the goals against us. It’s so bad. It’s unbelievable.”

United have lifted themselves to 13th in the league table, above West Ham on goal difference, although this still sits at -5, which is far from ideal.
However, the fight the club showed on Sunday afternoon is a huge positive sign for Amorim as they head to face Arsenal in the FA Cup next weekend.
