“Drives me crazy…” Roy Keane and Gary Neville agree on trait Manchester United stars MUST stop showing
Roy Keane and Gary Neville have agreed on a trait that they both feel Manchester United players must stop showing following their 2-0 loss against Arsenal.
Rúben Amorim’s tenure as Manchester United head coach began with a setback as his side suffered a 2-0 defeat to Arsenal on Wednesday evening at the Emirates Stadium.
United approached the game with a clear plan to nullify Arsenal’s attacking threat, adopting a compact defensive shape that held firm throughout the first half. However, this cautious approach came at the cost of attacking fluidity.

In the second half, Arsenal found a way through, scoring twice from corners as United struggled to cope with their physicality in set-piece situations.
While the result was disappointing, there were bright spots for United, including a strong showing from Harry Maguire and an encouraging debut for Leny Yoro. Amorim, however, will have much to reflect on as he looks to refine his team’s approach in the coming weeks.
United’s bad habit
Speaking on The Overlap after the game, former United captain Gary Neville explained that there’s a trait in football that has been driving him crazy of late.
“You see this a lot, not just reunited, but you see wingers get it in a position where and then they stop for some reason, and then they come back and play around and recycle it on the other side,” Neville said. “It drives me absoluitely crazy.”
In reaction, his former teammate Roy Keane agreed, explaning that he wishes United’s players would take more of a chance and drive forward, especially when they are trailing by two goals.
“I think there obviously are times for that, particuarly if you are in control of the game… But United, there, when you’re chasing, you almost want to stop, call a time-out and say to the players, I was saying that a couple of weeks ago, ‘you know we need a goal, don’t you?’
“Then almost remind players, ‘oh yeah, you’re 2-0 down!’
“I don’t mind lads losing the ball going forward, but they’re coming back… That’s not bravery, that’s not courage.”
