Manchester United legends Roy Keane and Gary Neville both agree over what they think will happen in the Manchester Derby on Sunday.
With the fixtures flying thick and fast after the recent international break, one to watch over the upcoming weekend is the infamous Manchester Derby, hosted by the red side of Manchester.
In the reverse fixture, The Red Devils picked up a surprising win, with late goals from Bruno Fernandes and Amad completing a dramatic late turnaround to earn all three points.
This campaign will be one that both Manchester sides will be wanting to erase from their memories, as both teams have suffered very poor campaigns.
Injuries have badly plagued both sides, which has seen Pep Guardiola’s side fall to fifth following their four-peat, whilst Ruben Amorim’s Reds are down in 13th.
Keane and Neville both predict a draw
Although Amorim’s side don’t have much to play for from a Premier League perspective anymore, they will be motivated to defeat their noisy neighbours to stop them from qualifying for the Champions League.
With it also being confirmed that City are to be without Erling Haaland for the fixture, the Red Devils will be sure to have their tails up to dampen an already poor season from the Cityzens.
When being asked to predict the result on The Overlap, both Roy Keane and Gary Neville were in complete agreement as to how they saw the game going.
It is no surprise that the two United legends were on the same wavelength, having played 322 games together in their esteemed careers.
“United have done well in big games, haven’t they,” Neville explained. Further, he commented: “In big games [against] Arsenal, Liverpool, City, they’ve done pretty well in them games… I think it could be a draw.”
When it came to the score prediction, both pundits were hopeful that United wouldn’t leave empty-handed. Keane went for a prediction of 1-1 between the close rivals, whereas Neville went for a more exciting 2-2 draw.
How do these sides usually fare?
In the last ten Premier League matches between the two fierce rivals, Manchester United have won four, lost five and drawn one.
As well as this, United got the better of Guardiola’s side in last season’s FA Cup final, where The Reds were 2-0 victors.
When these recent contests have been played at Old Trafford, United have won two, lost two, and drawn one.
Keane and Neville will be hoping that their former side can find the net after their goalscoring struggles against Nottingham Forest on Tuesday, and The Reds will see Guardiola’s vulnerable defence as an area to exploit.
