Roy Keane explains six questions he wants to ask Manchester United, Rúben Amorim can answer three of them vs Liverpool

Roy Keane has listed six questions he wants answered as Manchester United prepare to face Liverpool in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.

With the October 2025 international break behind them, Manchester United are back in Premier League action as they travel to Anfield to take on Liverpool.

Rúben Amorim’s team currently sit 10th in the table with three wins from seven games, but there’s a quiet sense of confidence ahead of the trip given Liverpool’s recent slump in form under Arne Slot.

After a flying start that saw them win their first five league matches, Liverpool have since lost three consecutive games in all competitions — to Crystal Palace, Galatasaray, and Chelsea. The defeats to Palace and Chelsea came deep into stoppage time, while the loss in Turkey finished 1-0.

United, meanwhile, will be looking to build on their impressive 2-0 victory over Sunderland before the break, with Amorim hoping that a strong showing at Anfield can spark a sustained run of good results.

Keane has six environment questions he wants answered

In the summer, there was a real sense of camaraderie from the United camp, with players noting both publicly and privately that it was the most harmonious pre-season training atmosphere at the club in a long time.

However, their start to the season has not matched up, with the Reds sitting 10th in the league table and questions surrounding Amorim’s suitability for the role of head coach.

Speaking on the Stick to Football podcast, former United midfielder and club legend Roy Keane critiqued the current environment at Carrington in the men’s first-team squad, and explained six questions he would want answering.

“I definitely think there’s something going on at United in terms of the environment,” Keane explained.

“The last few years have been too many good managers going in, too many good players go in and it’s just not happened.

“There must be something going on. Again my my mindset always thinks of what the training ground is like. What’s the culture like? Are they driving each other on? Are they training properly?

“Are they decent lads? Have they got enough quality to play for Man United? Are they brave enough to play at Old Trafford when things are going against them?”

Amorim can answer three questions on Sunday afternoon

There is no doubt that Amorim is under signifiacnt pressure to produce results at the club after such a poor and inconsistent start to the season. Regarding Keane’s questions, three of them can be answered on Sunday afternoon.

First of all, if the squad can deliver a strong and consistent performance away from home in the intense atmosphere at Anfield, it would leave little doubt that the team is indeed driving and playing for each other.

Secondly, in terms of proper training, this can be addressed through the system they play. United will need to stay tight, understand their roles, and confine Liverpool’s attacking threat, which can only be done through good and clear training.

If United can manage to stifle players such as Cody Gakpo, Alexander Isak, and Mohamed Salah, this will go a long way to showing Keane that their time at Carrington is well spent.

Finally, Keane questioned whether this group of players have enough quality to play for his former club. Those such as Bruno Fernandes and Leny Yoro have certainly proved this in the past, while the talent of new signings Benjamin Šeško, Matheus Cunha, and Bryan Mbeumo is apparent.

The main question Keane wants to address is whether these talented players can prove themselves good enough for United by playing harmoniously on the field.

Once again, if Amorim can show a consistent, 90-minute display from his squad at Anfield, that will go a long way in quashing questions surrounding quality on the pitch.
