Bruno Fernandes scored a stunning free-kick to open the scoring in Manchester United’s clash against Arsenal at Old Trafford.

Ruben Amorim had no choice but to field a weakened Manchester United side against Arsenal on Sunday afternoon, leaving fans feeling anxious before kickoff.

Despite this, United were defensively solid in the opening 45 minutes, allowing Arsenal very few opportunities.

While Amorim’s side has posed a threat on the counter, it was a moment of brilliance from a Bruno Fernandes free-kick that put them ahead just before halftime.

The United captain expertly lifted the ball over the Arsenal wall and into the top corner, and David Raya could not get near the strike.

Keane’s assessment on Fernandes goal vs Arsenal

Roy Keane recently blasted Fernandes in the media recently and it caused a lot of controversy considering the performance levels of some other United players.

Fernandes seems to be the one who continuously gets United out of trouble and that was once again the case against Arsenal.

Even the former United captain Keane was complimentary of the free-kick goal, although also placed question marks on the Arsenal wall and Raya..

“An amazing strike,” Keane said on Sky Sports at half-time. “We’d obviously question the goalkeeper, the wall. But what a strike.

“The power he gets on it to get over the big wall, I think that’s the bit that catches us all out. And I think it’s got the goalkeeper out.

“Because the power behind the shot, usually when you’re trying to get over a big wall, you obviously have to get a bit of height in it. But to still have that power behind it, I think was brilliant.”

It feels like every week we are thinking that United’s only chance of scoring will come through Fernandes, and recently he has been delivering a lot.
