“Revolutionary…” – Director reveals how much Manchester United’s new stadium naming rights could be worth

Manchester United have been told the staggering amount the naming rights of their new stadium could be worth when it is built.
Earlier this month, Manchester United announced their decision to construct a brand-new 100,000-seater stadium instead of refurbishing Old Trafford.
After months of deliberation, the club’s ‘Old Trafford Regeneration Task Force’ weighed the pros and cons before concluding that building a new stadium was the most practical option.
As a result, Old Trafford will eventually be demolished, with the new stadium scheduled for completion by 2030. In the meantime, the Reds will continue playing at their iconic home.
The decision has received mixed reactions from supporters, however, there is a general acceptance that this plan could generate the club much more revenue.
How much United’s new stadium naming rights could be worth
One of the ways which United could earn extra cash through the new stadium is by selling the naming rights. While some fans detest the idea, it would bring in some lucrative cash and is something the club are considering.
In fact, in their 2024 report, international valuation analysts Kroll valued the sponsorship rights of Old Trafford to be around £12.9 million per season.
However, Kroll’s managing director Mike Weaver has claimed that this figure would likely double for the new 100,000-seater stadium, putting the Reds on par with Real Madrid’s Santiago Bernabéu at the top of the charts.
Weaver said, as per Forbes, that United’s stadium “would obviously be totally revolutionary” and “it’ll be worth probably more than anywhere other than the Nou Camp.”
“The value is about two times for a new stadium than it is an old stadium,” he continued. “It could be worth up to two times what we have in the report right now.”
That would see United earn around £25.8 million per season if they were to decide to sell the naming rights for their new stadium.
Snapdragon open to buying United stadium naming rights
One potential contender for the naming rights of United’s new stadium is their current shirt sponsor, Snapdragon.
The club has played at San Diego’s Snapdragon Stadium during their last two pre-season tours and is scheduled to return for a third consecutive summer.
According to the Manchester Evening News, Snapdragon are open to the possibility of securing the naming rights, with their chief marketing officer, Don McGuire, previously discussing the idea last summer.
“Old Trafford is Old Trafford, it should always be Old Trafford,” McGuire said. “But if there is a brand attached to that in someway shape or form, powered by someone, an “at” or whatever…
“This is Snapdragon Stadium at Bashor Field. We are working very closely with the team on the reimagination of Old Trafford from a technology and innovation standpoint. And Carrington. Both.
“So if that leads to something bigger, where it would make sense for us to go even bigger – this (shirt sponsor) is pretty big by the way, not inexpensive – but if it makes sense we are always looking out for opportunities.”
