Revealed: When Kobbie Mainoo will return from injury and how many Manchester United games he will miss

Kobbie Mainoo suffered an injury in Manchester United training last week which will keep him out of action for an extended period.
Manchester United lost 1-0 against Tottenham Hotspur on the weekend and Ruben Amorim was forced to included seven Academy players on the bench.
Victor Lindelöf was the only player amongst the substitutes to have played a single Premier League minute before the game. Chido Obi had played three after full-time, coming on for his debut as the only change made by Amorim.
Manuel Ugarte and Toby Collyer were ruled out with knocks while Christian Eriksen and Leny Yoro were struck with illness.
It was confirmed that Amad had suffered a serious ankle injury as well which is expected to keep him out of action for the remainder of the season.
Kobbie Mainoo also suffered an injury in the training sessions leading up to the game, with his issue said to be a strained calf muscle.
When Mainoo will return for United and how many games he will miss
Reports suggested that Mainoo will likely be unavailable for around six weeks and the latest information from the Telegraph has built on that.
The outlet claims that Mainoo is targeting a return from injury after the March international break. He will miss the first England games under Thomas Tuchel.
However, the teenager could then be in contention to play for United against Nottingham Forest on Tuesday 1 April, or potentially in an FA Cup quarter-final game on the previous weekend of Saturday, March 29 if the Reds win their fifth-round clash against Fulham.
After the clash against Spurs, Mainoo is set to miss another seven games for United, including both of their Europa League round-of-16 games.
Should United progress in that competition, the teenager should be back available to play in the quarter-finals, which are played on the 10th and 17th of April.
Mainoo will have to wait to prove himself in new role
Mainoo has been an important player for United ever since he made his full Premier League debut against Everton in November 2023.
The teenager scored in the FA Cup final victory against Manchester City and went onto be a star performer for England at Euro 2024.
Under Amorim, he has had a less prominent role. The head coach was careful with his reintegration to the team when he came in as Mainoo had only recently returned from an injury.
It seemed like the 19-year-old had finally found his best role as one of the number tens in Amorim’s 3-4-3 system but his latest injury setback means that he will have to wait to fully prove himself in that role.
