Revealed: How many mistakes has VAR made against Man United in 2024/25 Premier League so far
A new report has revealed how many mistakes VAR has made against Manchester United during the 2024/25 Premier League campaign so far.
The video assistant referees (VAR) in the Premier League cause extreme controversy for Manchester United fans and supporters of all clubs.
United have had their fair share of controversial VAR decisions go against them and it appears that there is more questions than ever about the technology this season.
Yet, when there was a vote before the 2024/25 season about whether to keep VAR in the Premier League, 19 clubs voted in favour of retaining the technology.
That means we are definitely stuck with VAR for the future, whether we like it or not, with improvements to the processes hopefully forthcoming.
It seems that every team’s supporters believes their side suffers the most from VAR mistakes.

A new report from GiveMeSport has created a Premier League table of VAR mistakes made so far this season using analysis from ESPN’s VAR expert Dale Johnson.
The table is calculated through a net score of ‘Mistakes Against’ being taken away from the ‘Mistakes For’ each club.
Manchester United’s net score, according to the report, is at -2 and the joint-second worst in the division.
The Reds have had one VAR mistake go in their favour but three impact them negatively.
One of those mistakes came away at West Ham when the hosts were awarded a last-minute penalty following a challenge from Matthijs de Ligt on Danny Ings.
PGMOL chief Howard Webb would later admit that the decision was wrong but no written apology was made for the goal which led to Erik ten Hag’s dismissal from the club.
Liverpool are the only club who have been treated worse by VAR, the report adds, with United’s rivals having a net score of -4 (1 mistake for, 5 mistakes against).
The top of the VAR table is Newcastle, who are yet to see a VAR mistake go against them but have had five in total in their favour.
However, it is also important to note that this report does not include penalty appeals, either way, which were not overturned by VAR.
United have saw two obvious penalties in recent weeks go against them. Rasmus Højlund was chopped down by Ruben Dias during the Manchester Derby and Amad Diallo was hacked to the ground against Everton.
