Manchester United’s incoming assistant manager, Rene Hake, has broken his silence on his move to Old Trafford.

Hake, 51, has previously worked with Erik ten Hag and will soon make the move to United alongside fellow Dutchman Ruud van Nistelrooy.

They will make up the new team at Old Trafford as INEOS look to move things around behind the scenes after confirming that Ten Hag would stay.

A detailed report from ad.nl explains that Hake reported for club training on Friday morning despite his move to Old Trafford being around the corner. Those at the training ground greeted him with applause and congratulations.

“I owe it to them,” explained Hake when asked about the situation. He confirmed that his move to United is essentially complete, and ‘something very strange’ would have to happen for it to fall through.

“It is not in the back of your mind but in your forehead,” admitted the Dutchman when speaking on the transfer. “It can’t get any crazier, right?” he laughed.

The aforementioned report explained that United would have travelled to the Netherlands on Friday to initiate the transfer. Hake was asked if it was a no-brainer. “Yes,” he responded.

Hake has been a head coach for many years but has decided to play a supporting act at United. “A great opportunity,” he says, and that explains everything.

Mitchell van der Gaag’s position at the club is now uncertain, and some reports have stated that he could depart alongside Benni McCarthy this month.

Steve McClaren will likely remain in the setup but in a different role than his previous assistant manager position.
