“Remember the name…” – Forgotten Man Utd starlet sends Ruben Amorim message after Geovany Quenda setback

Ruben Amorim may end up looking at Manchester United’s academy to find an alternative to Geovany Quenda at right wingback.
Manchester United were shocked to find out that their top summer target Geovany Quenda had agreed a deal to join Chelsea this week.
Ruben Amorim gave Quenda his Sporting debut and the 17-year-old was viewed as a brilliant option to strengthen the right wingback position at Old Trafford.
Instead, he will move to Stamford Bridge after a year-long loan back at Sporting, and United have to look for alternatives.
Reports have suggested that the likes of Roger Fernandes and Tyler Dibling are potential targets in the market, while Amad is also an option for that position.
Amorim may also look internally into the academy at Carrington to see if there’s a potential option to offer depth for that position.
Mantato sends Amorim message after Quenda setback
Bendito Mantato is one of the most highly-rated youngsters in the youth setup at United. The 17-year-old has made the position change from left-back to right-wing over the last year.
The left-footed winger was spoken about a lot when Amorim took charge as a potential player that Amorim would take a liking to.
In fact, reports from the Manchester Evening News even claimed that Mantato’s chances of being promoted to the senior squad were improved after the Portuguese boss’ arrival.
Unfortunately for the teenager, he has spent a lot of time out injured since that point but made his return to action recently.
He scored the all-important winning goal in the FA Youth Cup quarter-final win over Arsenal at the end of last month and provided another excellent display on Friday night.
The Under-21s won 5-1 against West Brom and Mantato scored once and provided two assists in an electric first-half display. Youth-focused X account Rising Stars XI has told fans to “remember the name” of the talented United starlet.
Amorim can utilise impressive United academy
The latest performances from Ayden Heaven in the defence for United have showcased that a big-money signing is not always needed.
United are trying to be smart with their money and sign young and talented players for modest prices. They also have to remember that they’ve got one of the best academies in the country.
Mantato could be a good fit for that wingback position, and his latest performance may serve as a reminder to Amorim that he could be used there.

Perhaps he might have been closer to a debut if he didn’t have the injury setback, but now that he is fit, it may be something that the United boss considers.
Even if you make a signing in the summer, depth has become a huge problem for United this season and if there are multiple youth players who can step up and contribute, it would help a lot.
