“Really starting to see…” Morgan Gibbs-White offers “incredible” Man Utd assement ahead of Premier League clash

Morgan Gibbs-White has made a candid assessment of Manchester United’s recent form ahead of Nottingham Forest’s clash with Rúben Amorim’s side this weekend.

After a mixed start to the season, confidence is sky high at Manchester United following the dramatic 4-2 win against Brighton, where Bryan Mbeumo scored in added time to secure the three points.

The Red Devils are currently three wins from three and will be hoping to make it four as they take on Nottingham Forest next.

Last season, Forest proved to be a difficult foe to play against. The East Midlands side recorded their first league double over United in Premier League history, with their last being in the 1991/92 season under Brian Clough.

United will be hoping to avoid a repeat of last season and continue their good form.

Gibbs-White praises Amorim’s Reds

After losing to Grimsby in the Carabao Cup, morale was at an all-time low and pressure on Ruben Amorim was ramped up. However, since then, United have gone on a winning run, with some of the pressure being released for now.

Gibbs-White also picked up on the resurgence of United and gave a glowing assessment of his opponents.

Speaking to Stan Sport FC, he said: “It’s been incredible to see, obviously, they’ve been going through a tough time in the past couple of years.

“But they’ve stuck with the gaffer [Amorim] and the past four or five games, you’re really starting to see how Man United should be playing, that grit and that determination to want to play for the badge. I feel like it’s been incredible to see, it’s something I feel like the league has missed.”

Tough test for United

It is easy to think that, just because Forest are currently in the relegation zone, United’s winning run will continue.

Following the sacking of Ange Postecoglou, Dyche has reverted the team to a more defensively rigid side that looks to strike on the counter, which proved to work against FC Porto.

This will be an interesting test to see where Amorim’s side is at. So far, against Sunderland, Liverpool and Brighton, they have played sides that want to attack the opposition and take the game by the scruff of the neck.

This, in turn, allowed the likes of Matheus Cunha, Amad and Mbeumo lots of space to break freely in transition and enjoy lots of success on the attack.

However, against Forest, the pressure will be on United to dictate the game and create chances against a low-block, instead of fast transitions.
