“Really good vibes…” – World Cup winning forward urges Juventus to sign Manchester United star

Following a disappointing season for Manchester United, a summer exit for Rasmus Højlund looks likely, with a World Cup winning striker urging Juventus to sign the out-of-form striker

Manchester United endured a challenging campaign last season, and few felt the strain more than Rasmus Højlund. The 22-year-old often looked out of his depth as the team’s primary striker, finishing with just four Premier League goals. As the season progressed, he struggled with even fundamental aspects of his game, such as his hold-up play.

With Ruben Amorim aiming to overhaul his attack ahead of the new Premier League season, a significant reshuffle is underway. Marcus Rashford has completed a loan move to Barcelona, Jadon Sancho is heavily linked to Juventus, and Al-Nassr have contacted United about a move for Antony.

Alejandro Garnacho and Tyrell Malacia are also not in Amorim’s plans and are expected to seek exits. Højlund, too, is reportedly more likely to leave than stay if a suitable offer arrives, potentially marking the sixth potential high-profile forward departure for United in the summer of 2025.

Amorim is still looking for a new centre forward, and it is believed that Joshua Zirkzee has more of a chance succeeding in Amorim’s system rather than the Danish striker, and his sale could help fund a new number nine.

Juventus in the market for a new striker

With Dusan Vlahovic likely to leave Juventus this summer and Randal Kolo Muani’s loan coming to an end, the Bianconeri will be looking to sign a new striker alongside Canadian forward Jonathan David.

Speaking with the Gazzetta dello Sport, World Cup winning forward Luca Toni spoke on who Juventus should target if they fail to loan Kolo Muani for another season.

“I would go for Rasmus Hojlund, maybe on loan. During his time at Atalanta, before the move to Manchester United, he gave me really good vibes. I’d go off that, not the struggles he has had in England.”

The 22-year-old has been linked with a number of Serie A sides so far this summer, but there have been no concrete talks about a move for the Danish international.

New forward will breed competition

After the signings of Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo for a combined £127.5 million, sales will now become the focus, with the club still having a number of positions to address, including at striker.

United will be looking to recoup a fair bit of the £70 million they spent on Højlund, and those funds could be used to sign the new forward that Amorim is after.

At the start of the window, names such as Viktor Gyökeres, Victor Osimhen and Hugo Ekitike were linked, and would have undoubtedly been the starting striker. Now though, strikers linked with the club such as Ollie Watkins, who has been described as the “perfect” striker option, and Nicholas Jackson aren’t untouchable.

Zirkzee showed promise at times last season before an injury sidelined him for the final stretch. With strong competition up front and the support of Mbeumo and Cunha flanking him in attack, there’s every reason to believe he can build on last season’s performances and take another step forward.
