“Really exciting…” – Roy Keane completely agrees with Omar Berrada’s stance on new Manchester United signing

Roy Keane has agreed with Omar Berrada’s stance on one of Manchester United’s new signings ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.

Manchester United entered the summer transfer window with a clear goal of bolstering their attacking options, securing Matheus Cunha as their first signing.

The 26-year-old forward, who netted 15 goals in the Premier League last season, is expected to play a key role at Old Trafford in the upcoming campaign.

The club also added teenage prospect Diego Leon to their ranks, but negotiations for Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo have hit a roadblock after two bids were turned down. Despite the setback, there remains optimism at United about eventually striking a deal.

The next priorities for the Reds are to sign a striker and a midfielder. However, further additions will depend on player exits, with several options currently under assessment for each position.

While United fans are frustrated that only one senior player has been signed, the addition of Cunha has still brought upon some excitement.

The new no.10 brings traits that weren’t on offer at Old Trafford last season and it feels like he’s prepared to deal with the pressure which comes with United.

Omar Berrada praised the signing of the Brazilian international and suggested that it could be a ‘Cantona-esque’ addition for Amorim’s side.

Roy Keane has already echoed the United CEO’s opinions, labelling Cunha as a “really exciting player” before his Wolves departure.

Speaking on ITV1 last season, the United legend said: “He’s a talented player. He’s lively. Every time he gets the ball you think something’s going to happen.

“[He is a] really exciting player, he has the ability to beat players. He’s got that pace, he looks a very natural player off the cuff. I like the look of him, big player.”

Cunha impressing during United training

Cunha has been in action on the training ground over the last week and clips of him driving with the ball at his feet have pleased fans on social media.

Amorim’s system seems to need players who can break through the opposition by running with the ball and not many United players can do that.

Even the best player, Bruno Fernandes, much prefers to bypass players through his penetrative passing rather than driving with the ball at his feet.

It will be interesting to see how useful this skill will be when Cunha starts playing games in pre-season and when the next campaign begins.
